The YouTube demos are pretty convincing, but it can only do one effect at a time. Does any one have hands on experience with this unit, and is it worth the cost?

Yeah, but it's the quality of the sound that's pulling me in, just don't know if I'll use all that stuff.

one effect at a time but quite a bit to choose from. I love mine and don't regret it at all.

I'm gonna hold off buying any similar effects for awhile and see how I feel. I don't expect the price to come down much on the H9. I wanna get a wah too, but that's so over used these days I'm in no hurry.

I'd pay $400 if it could intelligently sound realistic playing the "Trooper" or "Black Star" harmonies live with one guitarist and do it convincingly ;)

Yeah, it's one of the better harnonizers, but I know of nothing that can do that well. I would want to be able to easily program my own exotic scales in as well.

For one algorithm, some can do several effects at once (ModEchoVerb).

I almost never use 2 effects at the same time so the H9 was an obvious choice for me. I use it mainly for delays and reverbs and I never use them together. Great sounding pedal. My only issue is that the algorithms are a bit expensive to buy.

Yeah, in one of the demos on. YouTube one was talking about running 4 inline. There's no way I'd consider that, I'm just really impressed with the quality of the H9. effects.

i have seen many new high end pedalboards with these on them, but the way i look at it is by the time you populate your board with the new wave of holy grail pedals; strymon big sky, timeline, mobius, and eventide H9, you have $2k on the ground and 4 effects to patch in and out of and control simultaneously.

i have a gforce i use live that accomplishes that same task in a self contained rack unit, and via midi becomes any of those sounds and combinations. i also have a pcm 80 that does the same in a rack at home. the only drawback is the patch change lag time on the 80, and that neither of the rack units do the pedal type modulated sounds of the mobius nor sound quite as pretty as eventide's pitch shifting.

the H9 does awesome pitch fx as only eventide can do, but if i really wanted that i'd buy a used H3000 or eclipse for $300 more and really have the eventide sound they are famous for.

I agree to the point of sound quality/price, but if you compare the ease of use between the Eclipse's interface and the iPad app for the H9, the choice is clear.

I think the NEED to WANT dilemma is often won by WANT because let's face it... most of us are kids at heart that love new toys.

The quality of the effects are really good. The delays, chorus, flanger and tremelos have all been outstanding so far. I have yet to dig into the harmonizers or reverbs. There is a certain warmth to all the algorythms I have checked out so far. Only had it for a few days. I figure I can dump a few pedals off my board to cover most of the costs. The Ipad feature is very cool but I have only scratched the surface of what this thing can do.

this thing has the EXACT pitch shifting for Panama and Drop Dead Legs...

and the exact delay for Women In Love

that sold me alone...great unit...I use it live all the time...

the delays and reverbs are pristine...and you can program it using your iOS device.

Since I already have a Mobius and Timeline I don't need it. The problem I see with the H9 is I'd need 2 since I don't like modulation in effect loops, and I prefer verb and most delays in the loop. And what if you want your phaser tones with a touch of verb or delay?

The one other thing is it only comes with a a few of the most popular effects from each of the Eventide pedals. After that you gotta start buying them.

Personally delay not my thing, I can take it or leave it. Same with reverb.

Not to mention it has the exact preset for Ballerina by Vai. That alone, to me, is worth the price of admission.
