Eventide or tc g major 2 ?

Looking at putting either one in a small rack , I'm after a few delays ,a splash of reverb now and then and also some harmony fx . I already have a time factor and could buy a pitch factor to go with it , only thing is both units would take up alot of space and then I would need to add a noise gate and reverb pedal , so it's going to be aukward for putting in a rack with loads of pedals and power supplies etc . On the other hand I could use the g major 2 and solve everything , thing is eventide are really nice sounding pedals , would I sacrifice sound quality with the tc unit , I'm not bothered about fancy effects like crystals and band delays just basic stuff , and I would use the harmony effect sparingly , , so what would you go for tc g major or eventide pedals ? The reason I want to rack it is because I want to control it with the rg16 . Cheers

As I hear it, the 'potential' tone difference between the two would not weigh up against the convenience you would gain with the g major II. I hear raving reviews on all products you listed.

The price would indicate better value for money with the Gmajor II as well!

The G-Major II might work for you. I find the Eventide effects to sound better, but that's just me.

not sure about what rack eventides have been fixed of the problem, but i know eventide and lexicon both have had serious latency issues between MIDI recalls of CC's. i know the g-major II has been pretty much alleviated of most of the midi delay latency switching problems the original g-major had except for one latency issue dealing with the mod features like intelligent pitch shifting.

there is a way to get around this though with how you program a master patch and pull from it for everything else you'll ever switch between. but as it stands for user friendliness without having to do that, the g-major II would have a more friendly layout and is 90% MIDI latency free and is lower cost.

Yer the eclipse suffers from that problem but the factor pedals change patches really fast , at the end of the day I don't want a night and day difference in quaility but it would be nice to have something compact , but if the difference was so great I would rather find a way to fit extra pedals in the rack .

both units use over sampled AD/DA converters, i doubt you'll hear much of a difference other than the typical algorithm and converter brand differences between each unit. honestly you're splitting hairs at this point and need to go use both of them and just choose which is best for you

Definitely can't take anything away from the Eventide stuff, I haven't used it myself but obviously their reputation speaks for themselves.... I may be a bit biased, because I am a GM2 owner, however, having already owned one Eventide pedal, and after the "needs" that you posted, I really think the Gmajor would be the better fit for you, it's an excellent piece of gear.

Just remember that unless you are ok with the bit of A/D/A conversion with running it in a serial loop, or have a way to pull it in and out of your signal chain, you will need to run it in the parallel loop on Kill Dry, and a lot of the effects on the unit literally just sound like shit with this mode, so do your homework.
