So, I finally received the money I've been waiting on. I'm thinking about going to GC on my lunch break and picking up the 5153 I've had my eye on. Problem is, I have a gig tonight, so I won't have much time to dial it in. Has anyone ever done this?

Yup, in the 80's. Traded an 8-ball of meth for a JCM800 at 4am and gigged it that night at 9pm. But we jammed the whole day (stopping only to do rails), so we were dialed in by gig time. We were doing slayer, exodus, kreator and destruction covers when few people even heard of Metallica.... Man, that set went by quick.

I've done it many times. Only time I've regretted it is when I bought a JCM 900 Dual Reverb at a pawn shop right next to the venue. I'll never forget the look on our drummers face when we were sound checking. He was not a fan lol

Yep, with some shitty solid state amp.

When I got my 5153 a few years ago, I receive it at 4:00pm and played a show at 10:00pm the same night. Set the knobs at noon and adjust from there. It's not a hard amp to get dialed in.

I guess I'll find out tonight with my shiny new head!

I had white one... I don't remember it being that hard/picky to set up. Not like my Mesa's ;-)

ROCK IT and have a great gig!

I've played plenty of fly dates. Show up and there's a back line.
You have to sort it out quick. During sound check.
Make sure you have your pedals sorted.

When I got my 5150 III 100 watt head I played a gig that night with it. Wasn't hard to dial in and sounded killer right out of the box!!
