i could see that. It's kind of like my name on here. It's offensive to introduce my name as scottosan, but the Japanese would call me scottosan. I would introduce my sell as scott pronounced "su ka to desu" meaning scott is or is scott. Jackson sounds like an informal or impolite way of sayin I'm JackShawn Lutz":1wy0pdez said:yes, Japan market only. Jackson alone I heard is offensive to Japanese, hence Grover added

pretty sure it had nothing to do with language. From my understanding the "jackson" name was already trademarked by another company in Japan so they had to change the name. They were pretty much the same as the "professional" guitars of the time.

Maybe I'm an idiot but the joke went over my head as well.![]()
Also on an unrelated note they did sell Jackson branded guitars for a while in Japan with the logo "Jackson" in large and
"grover jackson" written in tiny letters on the headstock.
I think it was 1990 or late 89 Japan said you have to make the word "Grover" large and in front of "Jackson" on the headstock.
Then sometime I think it was the late 90's early 2000's they started using "Jackson Stars". If my dates are off I am sure some one can correct me on the exact years and dates. I'm just going off my best recollection.
