Truly the Bruce Lee of guitar. The technique yes, but the tone was never overly gained. For the amount of precision he displayed, thats saying something. Insanely tasteful IMO.
The Hendrix stuff at the end is insane. He just channels Jimi.

He had psoriatic arthritis and probably concomitant pulmonay interstitial lung disease withn ensuing pulminary interstitial fibrosis whilst being treated with systemic corticosteriods. Adding smoking to that was not a wise decision.

He was unreal good.

Probably the best guitar player there's ever been. I have favourites over Shawn, but in terms of technique combined with a great tone, phrasing and vibrato, there's no-one who can beat him.

Michael Angelo and Rusty Cooley could play for another lifetime and they still wouldn't get as technical/creative as Shawn IMO.

His albums Powers of Ten and Tri-Tone Fascination aren't as 'shreddy' as you would think although they definitely have their jaw-dropping moments! Centrifugal Funk is a different story altogether though
