but what a great amp - and can't beat the price, rep at Sweetwater gave me a nice discount

so far so good, played it a little bit last night and all 3 channels are really easy to dial in a great tone. I'm running into a Bogner V30 loaded cab but will experiment with some other speakers soon as I have some Scumback J75 on the way to load in my Ubercab (XPattern with V30).

Same here. Just picked one up a month ago. Awesome amp. Just smoking. Best amp I've played

Agreed... for functionability, switching, loop, and overall very decent tones... This amp is the best out there for the $ in my opinion. And really pairs nice with the matching 2x12 or 4x12. Happy NAD  I sure as hell miss my Gower Killer Kali  ... but the 5153 has been my gigging amp since and it does the job quite nicely.

the EVH 5150 III seems to be the workhorse for many touring bands kinda like the Peavey 6505/5150 is/was. Will be fun to experiment swapping out some preamp tubes down the road - as my guess is Fender is probably not going for high grade preamp tubes...although the noise floor on the amp isn't too bad, especially for an amp with 8 12ax7 in it

Let me know if you start swapping pre's.. Im still running the stock ones since Ive had no issues.. floor noise is nothing on my amp.. And yeah, with 8 of those bastards, it's gonna be a lil 'process' if you start swapping. Cheers

Workhorse.. Yep - EVH, Gary Hoey, Joel Hoekstra, Testament, Jake E Lee, Eric Friedman, Clint Lowery, Nothing More, etc... some damn fine players and touring musicians there.... and they can pretty much play what they 'want'... Saw Eric F tear thru a CCV... sounded good...but he still gigs and records with the 5153.

These amps seem really picky about speakers/cabinets. I have the 50w version and had it hooked up to a 4x12 with G12-65's in it...sounded not so good. Bought the matching 2x12 and holy shit. Low end punch, rich harmonics, etc etc. Best of luck with the new amp.

No problem with low end punch from the Bogner 4x12
Can't wait to try with the Scumbacks

Like most production amps.. .I think fender spent some time finding the right speakers that pair well with this amp.. and the 2x12 with G12H's and 4x12 with EVH's sound really good with it. Ive got a bogner 2x12 V30s... sound good but it brings out a bit more of the mids and fizz of the V30... I find myself having to run the mids and prez down a bit when playing thru the V30's. Sounds great thru the 5153 2x12. Let us know how it likes those scumbacks

agree - I had presence treble and mids down...but I don't usually run a lot of presence on any amp.
The J75 are def smoother than the V30
I had a EVH 4x12, course I could use it now...haha but I like the 3 Bogners in a row...satisfies my OCD

I've never tried the EVH amps but every time I hear them live at concerts its a consistently great tone (Testament, Forbidden, Carcass).

My search for tone ended with this amp. My budget and life doesn't allow me to have 24 amps worth 3K in my basement, I can own one and this is the one for me. I put an MXR 10 band in the loop for leads and I have everything dialed in great. Sure, I would love to own a few other amps but for someone looking for top shelf tone, amazing build quality and a nice looking head for a reasonable price, this amp is it.

That 5153 50 I had was a great little amp. I imagine the 100 is even better..congrats!

Great bang for the buck!!!! I tried my 50 watter through a nuno randall 4x12 with greenbacks and it sounded amazing!!!!!!

Do the mini's pack enough of the same punch as their larger brothers? The price point is certainly very friendly on those..
