Gassing majorly for one of these. I demo'd one about a year ago, and it sounded very sweet. Only played it at low to medium volume levels though. How do the 20 watters hold up with some serious volume?
Right now the only thing holding me back is the $1250 Cdn price tag :aww:

cabinet sounds great at recording levels and medium volume - start getting alot of air flowing though and i didnt find that it held together well at all - it became a wall of struggle it seemed tone wise - nothing like it was at above level recording or gig levels for some people.

i think they are grossly overpriced - grab a 5150 cabinet and put some greenbacks in it and save yourself alot of money.

Get a Voltage guitar cabinet (canada) and some 25 watt scumbacks, will kill the fender cabinet dead.

Nice rig, I've heard and played that exact setup and it sounds great. Like I said, I'll probably call Steamco again and talk spec's. These cabs are of such good quality and with the custom options it's really a no brainer. Plus I can just drive over and pick it up

I actually played an outdoor biker rally last night on a huge stage with a huge PA. I ran my stereo rig. A G-System, 5150 III halfstack on my side of the stage and a 5150 halfstack slaved off of the 5150 III on the other side of the stage. This was the first show since I've had this setup that I've really been able to open up the 5150 III at a high volume and I was so digging it. It was a really thick sound. I noticed the 5150 III cab on my side thumped a little bit more than the original 5150 cab with the Sheffield speakers on the other side of the stage. (I was using a wireless so I was checking out both sides of the stage). The Sheffield speaker 5150 cab had a little more treble to it. Both cabs miked up in stereo sounded incredible together. But the 5150 III cab sounded phenominal with the volume set to about 11 o'clock. I could deffinitely feel it. My singer commented on it as well.

Eddie had his fingers in on making that cab and speakers...and Ed plays louder than just about anyone I've ever heard

just something to think about as far as what it should sound like at loud volumes ;)

ive had the cabinet up to 6 on a 5150 III, it does not hold together as well as my 5150 cabinets and 5150 II on 6.5 up to full volume of 10.

at volumes used up to 45% it does fine, anything after that is a struggle.

i will say that the cabinet quality is great, no baffle farting like cheap XXX peavey cabinets. but the speakers cant take the high high demands. anyone on this forum has or never will use the volumes im talking about - but thats what the OP asked about.

this coming from an avid van halen fan, and owner of nothing but 5150's over the course of 12 years.
