I was wondering who hear purchased or has played for any length of time the new EVH 5150 III Stealth , head or head and cab?
I have heard a few clips and it sounded good. I have never heard the stealth but I am not fan of the regular 5150 III.
I do like Eddies sound live when he toured a few years back.

Yup, i own it and it sounds awesome, but i am a big fan of the original 5150 III. Cleans are way better, crunch has more of everything and the red is more compressed feeling and gainier. So for me, it is too much change!!!!!, the rest of the gang may differ, but i love the blue channel on the original A LOT and it has changed a bit too much for me. The red is great though, nice mid punch and very aggressive.

So if it where not for the changes to the blue channel, it would be a keeper for me. I miss it too much. Cleans though are killer on it, wish i`d have them on my 100. I run an MXR EQ in the loop so i goose that red on my 100 to where i like it.

So i wanna sell the EL34. But not cause i don`t like it  Got my BE100 updated, an ENGL Blackmore for sale, a new Wolfie, a 2017 Polaris Pro RMK 155, a KTM 500EXC...............Finishing my paramotor course.......I gotta stop. LOL

For sale.

It reminds me of a beefed up 6505+, and then some. I cannot A/B with any other 5150 iii models, but it sounds very massive and thick (depending on settings, of course). Great cleans too. Tons of gain available, more than you will likely need.

You mentioned that it sounds good with low output pickups. I agree based on your video. I am curious though how it would sound with high output pickups or active pickups like EMG.. in other words would it sounds as good but for modern metal and shred with a articulate and powerful tone. It would be perfect if you could go back between the 80s brown sound, lynch territory, and a modern metal shredder sound.

It's a high gain el34 amp so it's not going to sound like a guttural thrash amp or a Mesa boogie. So if you like the sound of high gain British voiced tone you are going to very pleased. Gain certainly won't be your problem lol. Plus you can tuned amp with the resonance controls to get the low end where you want it.

If you are using higher output pups you will just need to set the amp accordingly. All of this stuff is really going to come down to how you dial in gear for your personal tastes. I believe Anthrax is now touring with these heads.

I've Heard that Scott Jumped Ship from Randall Cause Mike Fortin Left, May or may not be true but i'd be interested to hear his tone with a 5153.
