EVH 5150 reliability?

My original release 5153 combo had an issue with auto channel changing....was weird. Would just switch channels on me. I had to get a tube socket fixed(my fault), and after that, somehow that problem went away. But, I only sold it cuz I moved across country. My latest combo with the concentric pots I bought used from Music Zoo, and haven't had a single issue in 3 years since owning it. This one has more gain it seems then the first one I had. First one was a little creamier sounding, and this one is more raw sounding. The 5153 models can sound different with just a few tube rolling swaps. Some amps ya can't tell much difference, but these ya can....which is kinda cool if ya want different glass in em.

I've owned a TON of these over the years. My current 50 watter is from the original run without the concentric pots. My 100S has been around for a while, too. No issues aside from your standard tube problems.

I owned the original 50watt head and 2x12 cabinet for nearly a decade. It was played live and loud at least three times a week, sometimes four. It never so much as hiccuped. I wish I could say the same thing about other amps I have owned. I had a mesa F series that broke down on me at least 4 times in 5 years and a laney that seems to be decent but will just lose volume sporatically.

Funnily enough, Mesas are where I've had reliability issues, too. Had to send a Mark IVa back to Mesa twice within 3 months for repairs after a local shop couldn't fix it after 10 weeks. Weird switching problems with other Mesas. Too much djanky shit going on inside those things lol.
