So aside from the resonance control, how different is this from a regular 5153 100watt?

Not a world of difference..... but quite different.
Apart from all channels have MORE gain they are voiced a little different. To me it seems to have waaayyy more compression on the Blue & Red. A 5153 on steroids

And I just ordered it. Yahoo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats! Looking forward to hearing what you think. Did you get the cab too?

Yeah these amps seem really killer. Hear nothing but good things about them.

The clean is not as "clean" as the regular model, the input is very sensitive to active pickups.
The other two channels are a lot more aggressive sounding. I did not like the smooth gain of the original, the stealth definitely took care of that.
The resonance control on the back can bring the thump. I turn it to about 2-3 o'clock on the red channel and it was massive sounding. Its probably not good to have it that high in a band setting but I loved it, it was straight up crushing.

I had the Stealth and the standard side by side and I preferred the standard. The Stealth has more gain (completely unnecessary), but the voicing changes mentioned above just didn't sound as good to my ears. A lot of folks like the blue channel on the Stealth, but I boosted the blue channel on the standard one and it sounds killer.

The Stealth is cool, but you can save a lot of money by going with the Standard.

No I did not get the cab. I have two mesa 4 x 12 cabs. I may still get the EVH cab.

This^^

Not until the end of April or so. I took the (back) panels off of my 5150III 50 watt combo today so I could tighten up the speakers a smidge and make sure all the tubes were seated correctly and realized that this amp is very solid and very well put together. It set my mind at ease a little spending that much on the stealth. I was going to get the combo amp modified until they released the Stealth again. The tone on all the video's of the Stealth I have seen are simply amazing. I do not gig out with the combo amp. I have done some recording with it and it did an excellent job.

I received my 5150III Stealth today. It is a nice amp with a lot of new features and tone. I know some people say it has to much gain. It holds all definition regardless of how much you turn the gain up. The harmonics you get from this amp is almost unreal. I was surprised the clean channel sounded as good as it did. I have not ran any effects through it yet.

Congrats man! Let us know what you think after you've had some time with it.

So, it's been a couple weeks now, what do you feel about the amp these days?

I went to our practice room Sunday and messed with the Stealth for about two hours. Using different effects and a few different cabinets. I have also had three band practices with the stealth. I will break it down for you.

Stealth with TC electronics G Major - Did not like it and took it out of the loop. It seemed to color the tone enough to where it sounded better dry. I adjust the reverb and delay so there was only 5% of the effects in it. It was better but still did not care for it much.

Stealth with a Boss super over drive boost -this did not tighten up the sound any like it does with most amps. I have used my boss overdrive in front of all my amps for the last 10 years. This is the first amp I put in front of and did not care for it. So that is out.

Mesa 4 x 12 with v30 speakers - Awesome sound
Mesa 4 x 12 -old school cab with c90's on top and Ev's on the bottom - sounded good but a little boomy even with the bass turned down. Still sound good just not as good as the Mesa with the vintage 30's in them.
EVH Phase 90,Boss noise gate,Zack Wylde Wah in front of the amp - Sounds good and clear

I have the EVH 2 x 12 on its way. I am going to run two of these with the stealth and see what happens. I am also going to hook up my Rocktron Replifex to it on Friday and see what happens.
My overall take on the stealth is this - It has a great clean channel which I am still surprised about.Channel two is the Holy Grail of tone. Regardless of what amp you own or have owned if this does not do the trick nothing will. Channel three is thick and the leads are very thick and full sounding. The tone options on the Stealth are enough to keep any tone freak busy for days. I just kept turning knobs until I liked what I was hearing regardless of where they were. There is a ton of gain. The good thing is no matter where you have it set you can still hear every note that is played and does not get muddy.
I found great tone out of the this amp instantly. I play through and have owned some the best amps a person could own and the stealth hangs right in there with the best of them including any amp that has been modded. Basically the stealth reminds me of a very good modified sounding amp.
The stealth is very loud !!!!! I have it on about two and I play with a loud drummer and it keeps right up.
It is a great amp. My band plays out at the end of May. Hopefully I can get some good video and post it being played live. Overall this is a great amp.
