Hi there
Anyone tried the EVH 5153 50 watts ?
somehow confused which cab to pair with
need a more bass response and low ends
mesa 212 recto ?
maybe evh 5153 412 (better than 212 ) ??

I own one and regularly pair it with my vertical Mesa 2x12 (1x V30, 1x G12-65). Works like a charm.
If you use Greenback-likes with more power handling and low-end like the G12H30-55Hz, you'll probably knock a few birds with one stone;
after having played the 5150III 50W on a Marshall 1960BX 4x12 with Greenbacks, they match really well.

Go 412, those amps have a big sound and need a big cab. Look at the EVH 412, a used Marshall 1960 or a Mesa Trad

I already have a vertical slant 212 mesa cab,
honestly does it compare to a horizontal one ? I know they have the same specs , but i read that the horizontal is more bassy ... true ?

yea, I was thinking the evh 412,
can I still use it at low volumes ? better than 212 for this purpose ?

in a way, yes , it has indeed
but searching 4 the best cab that shines really well with bottom end ... more bassy, less bright !
have a mesa 212 vertical
any other better suggestion in mind ?

Actually, they don't. The Vertical is wider (about 24" x 30"). More volume=more low-end with the right speakers.

If your cab is on casters try taking them off, that will definitely help with getting more bass. I'm guessing it's probably one of the reasons why Friedman cabs don't come with casters.

I've got the 5153 50 watt and my two cabs are an EVH 4x12 and a mesa recto 2x12 w/ V30's. The green and blue channels sound better with the EVH cab. The red channel sounds better with the V30's in the recto cab. Great amp. Highly versatile. My only complaint is that I hate the shared presence control.

I owned one for about 6 months, my thoughts were pretty much this:

-Clean sounded great to me, could be glassy and chimey, or crank the gain to get an almost ac/dc grit
-Blue channel was cool sounding, but it always felt lacking to me without a boost
-red channel, tons of gain, but very flubby feeling without a boost to tighten it up
-the volume difference between clean and blue channel is annoying at low levels if you don't keep the gain around noon on the clean channel, but at higher volumes it is not as noticeable
-effects loop just seemed okay to me, nothing special

so all in all, I just didn't jive with the amp, it seemed just kind of mediocre to me, but after hearing so many people praise the amp I think it was more that it just wasn't what I was looking for. The best part of it to me was the clean channel and the size/weight of the amp.
I ran it through a Randall XL cab with V30's and an Ibanez open back 2x12 cabinet with celestion seventy/80's, felt like the amp had a bright characteristic that was hard to get rid of. I really liked it when I first got it, but after the honeymoon period I realized that I was just trying to get the amp to sound like something that it wasn't
