Hey, what's up fellas? Hope you're all doing well. I just wanted to share this quick video I shot of my EVH 5150 III Mini. I recently sent it to a tech to do the volume jump mod, and it's great! It increases the levels and gain slightly on channel 1, and in my opinion makes this a much better, useable amp. It's a very simple (and cheap) mod to do. Hope you enjoy!

It was done by a local tech and he only charged $50. The mod description is in the video. :)

very cool, seems very simple indeed

with this mod without turning down the volume pot you can't get a 'clean clean' if that makes sense, it's always gritty across the dial or?

It get's pretty clean. The gain knob is super sensitive now. If you keep it at 9 o' clock its basically the same clean. For the most part I was using the humbucker bridge pickup so it sounds a bit grittier.

Just tell your tech to change the 10k voltage divider to 42k for channels 1 and 2. He'll take a look at the amps schematics and should know which one to replace.

I do not think you need the mod. Try setting the gain to 1:00 and use guitar volume knob if you need a little cleaner. Chris Canella said this how the designer of the amp said to get rid of the volume jump. It works for me.

I don't like fiddling too much with the volume knob, so the mod works perfect for my needs. :)

It sounds like the green channel has a lot more gain which for me might be too much based on where I like the gain set for channel 2. I played a gig Friday night with the gain set around 1 o'clock/master at 10 o'clock and I couldn't tell much of a difference in volume between the green and blue channel. What does this mod do when the master is turned up? It looks like it's set at "barely on" in your video...

It stays consistent throughout. I couldn't turn it up more in the video because of the neighbors. :(

Sounds really good, nice demo. I have been wanting to pick one of those heads up... sounds great through the orange cab too!!

Very cool. Sounds great!

Can I ask what the gain on each channel is like with the gain knob at exactly 9 o'clock? You hit that in the video, but the Maxon is on. Also, what guitar are you using in the demo?

I love all the channels of my 5150 III 50 on their own, but that shared control for green/blue has left me colder and colder since I've picked her up. At times the sum is not equal to the parts. I've taken to splitting the coils and rolling volume to even have a somewhat passable clean.
