Any of you guys try using the Blue EVH channel for clean? I've been ditching the Green and experimenting with the Blue. The gain has to be down really low, but I find it's really responsive with the guitar volume knob. It can clean up real nice when I'm backing up the guitar's volume.
Any thoughts/experience?

i found it quite hard to clean up on mine, it was too saturated, but that wasn't at serious volume so i'm sure that makes a difference.

I found running the green channel as the main rhythm sound with the gain up made that amp sound best, it opened it up a lot.

The blue channel is my favorite channel on the whole amp. I'm not going to waste it on a clean sound :) Plus it cleans up very well with the volume knob. If that amp only had the blue channel I think it would be worth what they charge for it. Set the gain around noon and it sounds very mean and back off the volume for a good clean sound.

This. I've pretty much ditched the green channel and roll back my volume for cleans - I think it sounds better this way, IMHO.

Someday (after my warranty expires), I'll probably get the green channel modded for fuller (read:bluesier) tones, but I'm happy with just using channel 2 for now.

Just want to report on the Blue channel:
Used it for clean at a gig last night and had really good success with it. I was worried that at gigging volume, a lot of early breakup would happen , but i was able to get clean with a slight breakup. Really good tones for top 40 covers that we were doing. I certainly enjoyed the fuller sound more than just a straight clean from the Green.

Had the 50 watt head but didn't like the volume difference between channel 1 and 2. Recently picked up the 50 watt combo. What a difference.I find they fixed the volume issue and as long as your not raising the gain on channel one above 10/11 o'clock I find rolling back my volume on my guitar works well. No its not a Fender clean but it's fine. I also noticed the amp sounds much better with the speakers that pair with the amp . I tried other combinations before with the head and nothing sounded as good as the EVH cabs.

I've been using just the blue channel the past few weekends at gigs. I haven't had time to finish my midi board where I will have a clean boost in the loop to equal out the volume issue. I've been using a bare bones board with an EP Booster in front of the amp. No boost, half of the guitar volume with ch 2 gain at about 11:00. I think this makes for a very good clean. I kick up the volume for rhythm and kick on the EP for leads. Has been working great and has me rethinking my midi board in progress.

I don't think channel 2 sounds very compressed at all; channel 3 on the other hand is a different story. Like the 100watter, I still like channel 2 boosted over a gained out channel 3 any day. I rarely go into channel 3 with either the 50w or 100w.

I've always said, I think when demo'ing the amp most people go right for channel 3 and miss the goods that is channel 2.

Hmmmm. I thought Howard Kaplan on another forum stated that there was virtually no difference between the 50w combo and head and that the channel volume jump will not change because that would require less gain available for channel 2 and that's not what Eddie wanted.

I just got mine and is amazing. The blue channel is the best.

Maybe so but when I had the head there was definitely a volume increase when switching to channel 2. I don't find this happening on the combo. I do find them closer in volume .
