Looking for a 1x12 to keep at the office. Wanting something that didn't need much help getting good tones, (maybe just a boost).. I'll probably just run some delay/reverb in the loop..

I had a Blackstar HT-5 MKI on the radar. I also looked at maybe a Mini Jube since its a 1x12 vs the SC being a 1x10, or even thought about a PT-20 V2, Runt 20, but I didn't really want to get over $1000..

I really like my peavey 6520mh. I pair it with a 1x8 cab for practice. I don’t think you’d need a boost with either option - iconic or 6520

I had the Blackstar MT-5 and it was just okay. Sold it once I got the Marshall. I did a video on the 5150 from my quite uneducated standpoint - ie not as a metal amp, and I thought it was great. I did a vid on the Blackstar too. The 5150 was very versatile!

imho, and certainly YMMV, the iconic sounds quite good at low volume. very articulate, a little punch to it. it can be a bit uninspiring w/o the air and heat that comes with the uppage of the chicken heads... that said, i'll keep my miniTS in the front and i like it better.

whether you subscribe to this or not... (i think it makes a diff)... my iconic sits on a wood framed, elevated floor, with a LVP (luxury vinyl plank). i think that helps with depth and punch...just opine

I have the combo, really fun to play. Gets super low volume in low wattage mode if needed.

I'm not really worried about volume, I can probably play it louder at the office than at home! Might even consider a Mini Recto and a 1x12 Thiele for a different flavor!

I’m not sure about the 40w but the 80w version rips. I have a Thiele for sale also if you decide to go that route

If you're going the Mesa route, I would get a Mini Mark V. I had the Mini Recto and hated it. It was a noisy mess to me. Mini Mark was much better in my opinion. I know I might get slammed for this but the Joyo bantamp heads are pretty good for the price.

I had a Mini Mark V 25, and (2) Thieles. It was a killer setup, indeed. The Mini Mark V went WAAAY up in price. It was like 2016, I paid $1199 for the head back then, brand new. They're pushing 2k now! Even used they're ridiculous.

Holy shit! I didn't realize that. I think the mini recto was about 1k new when I got it years ago.

Yeah, I got the Mini Recto in like 2013, they were $999. I like the Mini Recto, they just need some volume. The Mark is a killer amp, I agree. The EQ makes a difference, and the voicing is Lamb Of God and old Metallica in spades.

put a mic on them and you’ll understand. Then compare to the regular mesa 1x12.

I decided to just get 2 Friedman 1x12's, since I already have the PT-20 V2. I gave my 4x12 to my brother.. I'll keep one cab at the office, one at home, and can stack 2 when the mood strikes. I can just grab that little head and go.
