Has anyone here actually played both of these guitars that can compare them?

had them both at the same time for a little while. The evh stripped is no way near the charvel in terms of feel, tone and just overall quality of the product. The evh isn't bad but I won't buy another one. One thing that bothered me, when they drilled the pilot hole for the bottom strap button they went right through to the trem cavity. Yup, there was a hole from the strap button all the way through the body to the trem cavity. Stupid things like that annoy me though because of my ocd. You can see ALL the tape lines on the paint job but there's so much clear you can't feel them. The Charvel was done by the custom shop and and obviously of higher quality.
The evh neck is the same as the wolfgang neck minus the stainless steel frets. I much preferred the Charvel neck.
my opinion between the 2 was the evh felt like a "toy" or novelty guitar, some guys love em and Im not knocking anyone who does but it wasn't the guitar for me. The price of the charnels has come down quite a bit, it will still cost you 2x the price of the evh but you're getting a product that is a lot better and will hold resale value where as if you try to sell the evh you're gonna lose a bit

No comparison. Have the evh red art series; had the bumblebee striped...for about 2 weeks. Floyd was tilted backwards; felt cheap. Lessthan12 is dead on. Just received a custom shop; unbelievable quality and worth every cent.

There is absolutely no comparison between the two. Mexican made entry level guitar vs a custom shop Charvel.

Depends what you want - a guitar to beat up on and play as a fun EVH tribute, or, a quality investment that really shouldn't be played.

I would skip both! Let EVH play his striped guitars, I'll play Charvels/Jacksons!

Not gonna say that my EVH is as good as my custom shop Charvel..but for the money I think it's a great guitar. My custom shop stays home and I gig with the bumblebee. Stays in tune, neck feels very close to my Charvel and it's as fat sounding as my LP. I like it...but I hear some are lemons..I must have gotten a good one..
