I am saddened immensely by Ed's passing, as I never got to see him live. Wish I had the opportunity looking back.

My question is I know Fender owns/manages EVHgear, but when it comes to the higher end amp development/final say, whom is this being passed to? I know HK was developer of the 5150III stuff, and Ed tweaked things to his current tone preference in the Stealths...wonder what the future holds? Or is it done on the amp side of things?

I doubt that there will be any new amp designs , unless there was anything close to production in the development stage. They have a solid lineup of amplifiers, that will sell for years to come. As far as guitars, unless there is some strange well know one that he played years ago, I think the lineup is going to remain the same.

There are so many new amps out at a constant pace, plus all the modeling/plug-in development, I can’t see that’s Ed’s passing will really impact the amp market necessarily, and I mean that with all due respect.

Block letter amps will go through the roof most likely.

I see EVH guitar sellers wasted no time in raising prices. Disgusting.

Wolfgang’s going to cash in. They Fender/family/estate will keep the brand going. For how long??? As long as it continues to be profitable.

As a tribute to the legend, EVH gear needs to develop / release a vintage Plexi looking hundy in the vain of the Metropoulos 12xxx / Abrahamian Rockstah / Friedman Naked-Marsha. Single channel ‘Place on Ground, Light Fuse and Get Away’ style amp. Traditional Plexi styling with the Gold Oval EVH logo. Make something that sounds like Mark Abrahamian’s demo videos on YouTube. And charge whatever the hell they want for it.

I was wondering the same thing. Especially since James Brown came aboard. I wouldn't be surprised to see a "Tribute" model 5150, or similar, (at a high price-point). They'll figure out ways to cash in, I can assure you.. They already are. The guy just died yesterday, and there's already new T-shirts, Hoodies, etc., for sale, prostituting his death. I actually find it poor taste to start selling "death" merchandise in just 24 hours. Maybe it's me, I dont know.

Hell, Dean's been milking Dimebag's name for years, with new Dime models every year.

EVH tribute this, and tribute that, for the next 12 years. They'll milk everything that they can and they will hit a Billion $. Absolutely, Eddie was all that and more to us guitar people, players and not.

Matt Bruck was always Ed's liaison to Fender. I don't know what he'll be doing now that his boss has passed. My guess is he'll stay pretty busy with Wolfgang, sorting out what they're gonna sell/auction off, license, donate, etc. But Matt will probably stay in that liaison position for a while. I don't think those EVH amps are going away anytime soon.

I am sure they will keep making it. Why wouldn't they? There are plenty of EVH options available so not coming up with anything "new" isn't going to be an issue as there is plenty to already pick from.

The top music memorabilia/merch sellers are Bob Marley, and Hendrix. I know they will continue in that vein I'm sure licensing will go up or the family will be approached nonstop with that. They will.

I can see amp designs maybe slowing, but product won't.

Bingo. If they really need to, they can throw in a Jose Master Volume but essentially, putz with the plexi circuit and build in a Variac and make sure it is built to be cranked. I think the original 5150 Peavey run and the II were pretty solid amps on the crunch channel. Nice sound to those. But the EVH amps apart from the earlier ones which had less gain, are too much. All preamp fizz and too much gain. There is no question those old plexis suited his playing and actually brought out the best in him because he really dug in. He got a little lazier on the leads with all the gain imo.

James Brown & EVH working together again would have been awesome. I am sure cool stuff will continue to come out, but without Eddie's ear it is a bummer.

Serious question- is Eddie getting a red striped coffin? or Urn? That would be so bad ass

Its really hard to predict other than auctions of his personal gear, which will bring big$ I would think. As far as the new stuff who knows because honestly this era of rock has been over for a decade or more and I grew up in 60`s and 70`s.
