JBL have metal dust caps?

I don't understand what is the black metal boiler on the right... i seen it in others pics, but was thinking it was part of the studio.

Two things about that picture I've often wondered? Whats up with Dave's right foot, and is that even Alex behind the kit?

Holy bumpage but Daves right foot was broken. This pic was taken around the VHII album. In the insert Dave was sitting on a stool with his cast and a cane. LOL

I LOVE Ed and the music the band has written...but only Ed could've built that damn guitar and made it the icon it is. I mean...take the paint off and the guy away that played it and it looks like a POS.

But damn...in their day they were not to be fucked with

What are those under the red arrows?

Guys. I live here in nyc and as of right now, everything is closed. By tomorrow, even the parks will be on a partial shutdown if not completely.

Transit, food takeout and hospitals are open.
Large areas are total shutdown.

All business is shut down. By may...who knows???
They said this morning that they expect this to go on alot longer than expected.

I`m thinking that whole rig is a replica , we know the B/W Frankie is
I would think so too, especially the cabinets. That rig was probably pieced out sold ala cabs along time ago.

yeah I always thought the original black/white frankie ended up with the red paint on it to become the more famous frankie? am I wrong ? .... the OP link was updated saying they have confirmed it is the REAL guitar so maybe i'm wrong..or they a lie

I thought the red one had a Floyd. The original white one had a Fender trem IIRC.

My guess would be variacs too.

There is a pretty good site out there that shows Frankie and some of his other guitars throughout their history but I can't find it right now. Wiki touches on all of it at a high level. The black and white guitar did end up being the first 'Frankie' but as we know the pickups and necks did not always stay the same.

There’s also a pictorial thread on VH Links that has an insane amount of detail, but photobucket in their shenanigans has screwed it up:

Why 6 cabs, not 4 ? There are only two heads ? Dumb question maybe but I'm not a VH nerd.

Saw this on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art last year, along with the frankenstein strat. Wow!!!!

It's called a backline :dunno:

In other words, in the rock world just because it is there doesn't mean it is being used.

Maybe it's a backline but he did have 6 cabs in the rehearsal studio a few posts above. There must be a reason.

Holy cow...that's an awesome thread on the Franky! Thanks for sharing.
PS: I forgot how bad I wanted to shoot PhotoBucket in the face 2 years ago, and this thread reminded me of that.

Fair enough.
Honestly, I don't know.
As a matter of fact - I'm not sure it has ever been discussed.

If I had to guess, I'd say he just kept extra cabs with him. More looks cool like I said and if a speaker or cab blows he can quickly recover. If you look real closely, there are 7 cabs in the infamous VH II studio pics. And most of those cabs do not look exactly like what is in the touring rig museum roadshow. I'm thinking those original cabs are mostly long gone and 'the museum' had to recreate them. So unless Eddie was using Cabinet switchers or load boxes and such, which is doubtful, then I'm thinking they are just extras/backups.

As to why those cabs are in the studio with him you have to remember that VH II was created in 1 week and it was created after only 1 week of coming off their first big tour. He probably didn't have anywhere else to put them so I he just took everything to the studio out of convenience (along with Alex's and Mike's gear). IIRC - Eddie and Alex both lived at home with mom and dad before VH1 broke so I'm not even sure he would have a safe place to keep them.
