i've had my jvm410 for a few years now, and i really can't understand why i see so many people complain about it. but then i guess some people plug in and play something once or twice and if it doesn't sound great they decide they don't like it? lol.... i think it has some great classic marshall sounds in it on channel 1 and 2, and the overdrive channels are there if you want them. i think i can get pretty much anything in classic rock you can think of with it.
Agreed.

Had mine for lord knows how long now, got it about a year after they came out. Been my main amp since. Never been disappointed in one aspect of the amp. Gain is as Marshally to me as it can get...and that's coming from a guy who grew up on JMP 2204's and a Overdrive pedals. Cleans...I've actually used them for Keith Urbanish style music back when I was doing local sessions here in Nashville. Never had noise issues either and I don't use any type of noise gate...never have.

Really for me the biggest surprise of the amps is two things...one, I've kept it for so long and two I much prefer it with GT-75's or V30's which before I started playing this amp I much preferred GB's. And I thoroughly hated 75's but the JVM, for me really kills with them IMO.

Other than the JVM, I'd probably go for the SigX...still my second favorite amp. And will probably buy another again just to say I have my two favorite amps.

I had a 4 ch JVM when they first came out, and later on a Joe Satriani version. I recently found an old demo of the original 4 ch. JVM.....going thru the various channels and modes, and I should have kept it. The amp recorded real easy and sounded great.

Of the modern tube Marshall amps:

JCM800 2203/2204 > JCM2000 DSL 100 > JCM900 SLX or Jubs > JCM900 4100> all others >JVM

i had a cab with 2 g12t-75's and 2 vintage 30's as well as the one i have now (with 2 webers and 2 vintage 30's) - but i decided to sell one and i just had to keep the webers lol - this cab is just a little better for lower gain classic rock/acdc/zz top type stuff.
i don't have a noise gate with mine either and it isn't noisy

As far as the jvm 410 H, it comes biased way cold from the factory with so so tubes installed,,I bought one once and after we threw winged c's in it,rebiased it in the middle, and new preamp tubes per reccomendations from the marshall forum guys, the thing came to life...it was nice, ..but..i had an 80s jcm 800,a jmp,and 89 2210 to a/b the jvm with..It still didn't have the authentic grind and push of the 800's.Having said that, I much prefer the 6100 to the jvm anyday.

See this is where amps as most all things musical are selective...and why years ago I got out of the this sucks or that sucks because there is no end-all be-all product. And why myself who grew up with 2204's and 800's also love the JVM. The DSL or 900's for example. I've never been able to dial in one usable tone out of those amps. "For me" they were useless but for other players, even some of my favorite players I've heard amazing tones out of those amps. It just boils down to what "hits" with someone and what doesn't.

i own a 205h ... i only use it as a power amp smashing an AMT P2 right through the fx loop... tried convincing myself that the amp alone plays well but it does not. It's a sort of mushy overdrive with weird texture that does not cut through but still sounds thin. the sound is not much of a marshall either, sounds cold and sterile in general with a lot of preamp noise. the power amp section is great and that's why i've been using it this way lately.

Then.. i played a 410H a friend of mine owns and that's even worse cause it was 100w and you had to play it a bit louder to make it sound somewhat all right.. overall a DSL is a much better amp and boosted with an SD-1 is toans for dayz.

I'll probably get to a 5150 soon, it was a simple yet great amp covering a lot of tones in the hard rock/metal genres and the only reason why i ditched it was my GAS and a lack of a good clean channel which i literally use 2% of the time.
