Experimenting with the Mesa Studio Preamp

As I stated that's what I recall as I have prints of the IIC+, they're not hard to find these days.
 
Fucking sick!I've found one of these for 300 but I'm gonna flip it for sure as they are getting harder and harder to find!

Guys with Studio Pre experience: how gainy do they seem to be. When I've had a C+ and III, I ran both gains around 7, and it was very saturated and a lot of gain.

I just picked up a Studio Pre and am running the gains around 4 for the same type sound. It has way more gain/overdrive available than I was expecting. Cant imagine why it Mesa would think it needs that much?

For my recording I have the gain at about 5 1/2 and used a TS in front. I found the different outputs make a huge difference also.
