I was on facebook but the bastards took my profile down because I was not using my actual name? I can't figure out how to get the account back so I havent been on since :dunno:

About a year ago I got a warning from FB that went something like this "someone who knows you reported to us that you are using a fake name. Please use the name that is on your i.d. or your account will be closed in 7 days".

I limit my FB visits to one per week and most of my online time is on youtube. That being said, I would join the RT group.

Damn. For some reason these don’t show up when I search using the FB app on my phone. I guess the good thing is none of them seem to be primarily guitar related and none use the RT logo.

I just checked out the FB group with the Rig Talk logo, and it's pretty dead. Unless I'm looking at an imposter group, last post was November of 2018?

I think you mean November of 2015; that is the RT “business” page. You cannot post there and cannot become a member.

I take it you found the new group. The link is in the first post on this thread. All the ones I posted dead or not related.

I don’t think I would participate in FB if RigTalk moved or was augmented.
I joined FB years ago because my high school reunion used it to coordinate. But I gave up FB and can’t remember the last time I logged in. It reminds me of America Online back in the 90’s in the way a grandma was excited to be online and connect with other people. Plus the company is full of creepy unethical people.

I love Facebook. Where else can I brag about my Hawaii vacation or lookup my ex girlfriends and see how fat and ugly they've become!

I just wish I could find my old AIM friends again. Josh Parsley, MYK, mrp5150. The good ole HCAF trolls. I don't use social media.

Laughing! I will say I'm jealous of the Hawaii pics. I want to go back so badly!

Facebook users are mostly self absorbed narcissists. FB itself is mostly garbage. I'm in a good mood today and thats the highest compliment I can give it at this moment.

That said I use it on rare occasion as a classifieds service to buy/sell one particular brand of guitar.

Facebook has 2.3 billion people use it daily. About 1/3 of the worlds population. It's whatever you use it for.
Yes there is plenty of nut cases and ego crap.... Just like the rest of the internet and world.

man, you guys take that shit WAY too seriously, it's only as shitty as you let it be, I ONLY subscribe to things I'm interested in, ignore the morons, and enjoy it for what I want it to be, not what I wish it was. relax guys, no different than here, just a bigger audience if you want it to be, or just an easy format to do what is done here when this place is slow.

;)

I tried to like FB groups but I found the experience really sub-par. The layout and the way topics multi-thread is painful to sift through. I found it made conversations short and everything felt superficial.

I also always felt creeped out. Like someone was looking over my shoulder at anything I posted.

Beyond that, after being on FB for a bit I found I started to really hate humanity and stopped before I lost all my friends...
