I sold my Faustine after purchasing my RIvera Rockcrusher last month. I made some money off of the sale, but this is crazy! The Faustine Phantom is IMO a subpar device compared to the Rivera RC. This is obviously hype-driven - but what's the source? Is Dave Grohl using one? The winning bidder could have purchased a '74-ish Marshall Super Lead 100 + a Rivera Rockcrusher for $2100.00 USD.

It's worth whatever the market will bear. It's obviously a top shelf device no matter how you slice it.

There's a little bit(or lots)of hype to all "holy grail" things in life. I'm sure some Epiphone Les Paul's in a Blind test will beat out some '59 "holy grail" original Les Paul's. But one is worth $400 & the other is $1,000,000

I can guarantee that the Faustine will hold value much better than the Rivera Rockcrusher will.

Life's all about perception, and the Faustine has that "holy grail" perception about it in spades!!!

You're probably right! Someone once said; "It's not the proof that matters... It's how it's perceived."

how much was the faustine new?
I got mine in trade on an amp. New they were around $700.00, maybe a little more.

The Phantom may be the best choice for some. I thought the Rivera had a more natural tone, especially on the highest attenuated (Studio) setting. My main amp has a very unique circuit, as it was designed to produce power-tube distortion at low volume levels. The Rivera may just play better with my amp? Here's Blues Saraceno playing his Dirty Boy amp... Maybe mine will sound as good as his one day?

That's a real possibility. The amps I've used attenuators with Diezels, Wizards, Slos, Bogners, Freidman's, etc - the Faustine worked the best. But it definitely worked better with some more than others.

My Weber Mass was like that also. It worked better with my Cornford than it did with my Splawn, yet the THD was the the exact opposite?

I rarely use attenuation with my Dirty Boy amp. I use it mainly for its line-out capabilities, and to knock the level down -3db. It's been my experience that ALL attenuators have a somewhat degrading effect on tone. If it sounds good to you - then it's good!

For my conventional rig: Guitar - Tube-Vibe - Bogner Ecstasy pedals (blue and red) - Skreddy LMMD (DSOTM tone) - Fulltone TTE - WET Reverb - VOX AC30 Heritage. No attenuator needed here. This combination is damn-near perfection! :)

Thanks to Pete Thorn's demo of it, everyone wants one. For that matter whatever Pete plays sounds just so good. I hear Suhr/Jim Kelley are coming out with a great attenuator but not sure when.

At $2000.00 resale, it won't be long before Tim Gregoire sells the brand... It's just a matter of who's going to purchase it?

I think he already has? But then the price will drop, and production models will go for $600 and used $400. I need to sell mine fast,
