Favorite guitar tones for 90's heavy / hard rock music ?

tool, melvins, kyuss are my favourites. too many other bands to list, these three are easily the top.

Helmet had some awesome tones on their early 90s stuff if you ask me.

Incubus "make yourself". Some very heavy and diverse tones on that one.
