you know, I think this question will have very different meanings to some age groups.

seems like the older fellas that grew up worshipping guitar players from the 60s/70s/80s will likely have an answer that is very firm.
but some of the guys around my age or young will probably have a 'flavor of the week'

i think it has something to do with how disposable media has become and the fact now a days ANYONE can be a rock star if they don't mind selling their soul. OR doing some ridiculous internet self promoting.

ok, i don't know where that came from....over analysis for the win!
 
Dimebag. his rythym and lead chops combined were just unmatched imo.
 
Overall I guess I would go with Andy Timmons.

But yeah, it changes often. I don't really have one absolute favourite - I listen to too much music and too many players to really single one out.

I was tempted to go totally safe and say Hendrix, or Rhoads, but aside from Blackmore influencing me, he influenced a lot of my other influences, as well.
