I know that there are going to be people coming out of the wood work to shout "Tooth & Nail" or "Under Lock & Key," but I think that George's best tones were from his solo album. The track below is probably my all time favorite tone that he ever recorded. Enjoy.

The tone in that vid sounds very refined and thick but it lacks the edge of the early Dokken recordings. I'll take the early 80s tones. Saw him play back in 84...he was blowing peoples minds back then.

under lock and key and back for the attack

I also love the bass tone here, and when the guitar comes in, it's RIPPIN

another goody

So many tones, so many albums.

Tone wise WS is my favorite, playing with Dokken ULAK due to the now famous Rig Talk "Skunk Stripe" theory.

I think this was the magical Purple Plexi that Groove Tubes used to own.

i was always under the impression that this was one of the earliest if not the first bogner xtc amp, and given this was my fave lynch tone and vai's bogner on alien love secrets bad horsie was the only track of vai's i ever thought was killer tone makes those early bogners pretty darn attractive in my book.

although all time lynch tone for me was that live sound he got on under lock and key tour, when i saw him at irvine meadows.

i've seen him live before and after and nothing compared to THAT tone. between that and brad gillis live w/ ozzy, that defined 80s metal tone for me.

I own his Mesa Recto #77 made. He used it on the Dokken Japan DVD '95 and on numberous albums

This is the exact way I got it from him. I think the Peavey XXX got its design from the mud flap girl on the front left. All tape is his settings and the yellow piece of tape has " Main 1" wrote on it. I get him to sign it everytime he's in NC. Last time he signed it he wrote" Someday this will come back to me, Lynch" You can kinda see it on the left top of the amp in silver sharpie.

Lynch is a pretty cool guy. He treats me like I'm the rockstar everytime I show up at his shows.

His my favorite guitarist since 12yrs old and the reason I play guitar. Figured I'd share this with everyone since we 're talking Lynch tone.

Bogner experimentation more than likely, more modern than old school.
He double tracked the low tuned stuff using an Uberschall and VH4. The beef sound on "Even Higher" on the LP disc was pure tits.

I liked Under Lock and Key the best, but Back for the Attack was a close second. But shit, I like all/most his tones.

That was when live, I believe he was using the modded or boosted marshall.. with a rockman sent to front of house and mixed in with the live sound? I know he did that - but can't remember if it was as early as 84...

Under Lock And Key for tone, licks & riffs always comes to mind when I ever I think of Lynch
