Favorite single coil sized humbucker?

Has anyone tried the little 59, or JB Junior? I think i might replace the single coil in the neck position of my Anderson. I really miss having a thicker sounding, humbuckerish, sounding pickup for neck position soloing.

i second the vote for Duncan Cool Rails. it's my favorite single sized neck pickup.

I used to have hot rails in my strat, they are freggin brutal hot, they have a TON of balls...

If I were going to try something new though I'd go for the Dimarzio Air Norton single coil sized, I haven't tried it yet, but that was a great neck pickup and I bet that thing kills with the rail version!

I had a cool rail in the middle position and hardly ever used it, I really just didn't bond with it...

I tried the Cool Rails and found it lacking, it wasn't a thick sound... more of a tubey Stratty type sound. The Little 59 is in my guitar in the neck position now, but i'm not happy with it. Then again.. i never liked the Duncan 59 anyway, so it makes sense that i wouldn't dig the Little 59.

I'm in the market for a replacement that sounds thick and smooth, something along the lines of a Les Paul neck pickup tone. I'm thinking of trying the Air Norton S, since the description of it seems like it would fit the bill for what i'm looking for.

I have a cruiser in my strat, really fat pickup. Mine's the neck pup though, not sure what the difference is between the two guessing the bridge is a little hotter.

Yeah it's a bit hotter and possibly a tad darker.

I like the DiMarzio Pro Track for these applications, I have one in a Soloist. It´s not particularly hot, but has a nice and fat tone.

You should try a Hot Rails, it's got a LOT output and sounds like a fat humbucker. But forget about clean tones from it, or any versatility. But for those OOOOOOOOOO Skyes solos, the Hot Rails may be your ticket.

That's what i'm looking for, Sykes style neck pickup tones. Are we talking about the Hot Rails bridge pickup or the neck pickup? The neck model isn't as hot as the bridge model, and i think the neck pickup is meant to be pretty versatile too.

I've had a SD Hot Rail in my Tele's bridge for about ten years now.
Thick, aggressive, responsive, and super hot. I actually keep it at a lower than usual height cause it sizzles so much.

The voicing of the Screamin´Demon makes for a pretty cool and unusual neck tone, I tried it out with a fullsize Demon (actually the bridge version, since there isn´t a fullsize neck version) a few years back. Basically a hot PAF-tone with less mids and more treble for a clearer and more biting tone... almost like blending in a bit of a singlecoil tone.

Agreed, the hotrails has one mode and it is fat lead tones. That pup will not clean up for shit but it is balanced with the JB I have in the bridge.

I need to change the SSL4s in my charvel, they are too weak and not balanced at all with the bridge pup. Talk about working for it shred wise.

I'm wondering whether to go ahead and grab the standard Hot Rails (bridge) pickup to put in the neck position, or buy the actual calibrated neck position Hot Rails pickup?

I have an Anderson H3 humbucker in the bridge, which sounds killer. I really like that pickup in this guitar. But I'm not sure whether the Hot Rails will be too hot in the neck position and not balanced out volume-wise with the H3 in the bridge?

For the neck, I like either a lil 59 or a lil Screamin Demon. The demon actually works very nicely in the neck.
