Fed up with effects loops, now what ??

Well guys I think I am done using effects loops. In my opinion, and I know everyone does not share this, they suck way too much tone, period. I hate to compromise great dry tone, just to add some thickness to my sound. However, I DO like some delay for solos. What are my options now ? I have a stereo cab, is the iso box wet/dry, power amp set up the best choice for adding effects while eliminating effects loops? Or should I just live with a great dry tone and deal with it lol Advice needed.

With a stereo cab, W/D will probably be your best bet.

The problem with effects loops is that people put stompboxes in them.

Granted, some effects loops are better designed than others, but still....

For guys wigging out about coloring their tone this is the right answer. If you are that picky the extra gear will be the cross that you must bare.

I realize the extra gear will be a pain, but Im a lil nuts so I know that's the only way I'll be happy. When I don't feel like doing the lugging, dry with a boost it is.

I've just been playing around with my stuff (I mean my guitar gear), and hooked it up like this:





In the M13 I use one slot for pre and 3 for post.
In the post, the first slot is a Volume Pedal, second for delays, third for Reverbs.
The "Volume" I have pre-set in 3 Levels: 0 for no FX (means the Marshall is silent), 70% for a bit of wetness, 100% for well Effected

Alternatively I could use a real volume pedal to control the volume of the wet side.

It sounds smashing!!!!!

This might actually be worthwhile carrying 2 amps. Plus I'd have the Marshall for backup, in case anything went south.

I don't own a m13 but have really been wanting one problem is my main amp doesn't have a loop so are you using the m13 100% wet or do you have dry coming thru? If there is dry are you getting phase issues? Last I remember reading there is no way to "killdry" on that unit. If you have this working nice I may need to ask some questions and pick you brain a bit. Lol

Thats true, however as it is serial it will be 100 percent wet as long as you put the first effect to 100 percent. I use delay and then reverb, only the delayed signal feeds the reverb as the delay is on 100 percent. With the volume block up front I can switch the effects chain completely off too. I do consider to get myself a controllable line mixer though, so Id be able to run effects without an overall volume change, as right now, the FX get added on top of the dry signal. When I run dry, only the Cornford is running.
