MOST RECENT UPDATE TO THREAD QUESTION (7/09/2010)

Can anybody give me some feedback/thoughts on the:
* Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Boy (with Tap Tempo switch)
* Eventide Time Factor

I would be really interested to know if anyone has used an expression pedal with either of these units to control the Feedback level, as I'd like to know if you can send it into self oscillation and, ultimately, get the oscillation to swell and build in volume and intensity with the expression pedal (e.g., similar to the 'Warp' function on the SolidGoldFX Electroman. See video at: http://proguitarshop.com/store/effects- ... lay-p-2009 )

Thanks! :thumbsup:

FIRST UPDATE TO THREAD QUESTION (7/07/2010)

Can anybody give me some feedback/thoughts on the:
* Tech 21 Boost D.L.A. (newer version, with Tap Tempo switch)
* VOX Time Machine

Ideally, if anybody has tried or owned both, a comparison would be great!

Thanks! :thumbsup:

ORIGINAL THREAD QUESTION (7/06/2010)

I'm looking to replace my old warrier Boss DD-3 pedal with something a little more recent with some additional functionaility.

Ideally, the pedal I would like would have the following characteristics:

* Analog delay
* True bypass when switched off
* Little 'coloration' (read: degradation) to sound/tone when switched on
* 1000 ms delay time (or at least 800 ms - however, no need for more than 1000 ms)
* 'On/Off' switch and 'Tap' switch for setting tempo of repeats
* Relatively small footprint on pedalboard
* Price of less than $225

Everything in the above list is a must-have with the exception of the 'analog' delay. It could be 'digital', provided it sounds good! Also, I don't need anything fancy - the pedal can be mono, it does not need to have any delay modulation options, etc.

Let me know your suggestions!

Thanks! :rock:

Spend a little more and get the Strymon Brigadier.

I gots me a Timeline on the cheap. But go try and find one for under $480. They're the CCV of delay pedals. :lol: :LOL:

I checked out the Vox Time Machine when searching for a new delay, looking for exactly what you're looking for. I was really impressed with it. Much more than anything boss or digitech I tried.

Has anyone tried the Fuchs delay pedal? The vid that was floating around sounded very very good.

Did you end up buying it and do you use it live?

Also, does it have true bypass?.....I can't find anything that suggests it does.

Thanks.

I've been loving my Digitech Hardwire Delay.It does all that you listed.

I didn't buy it. I ended up going MultiFX/Rack instead of pedals mostly. I would have bought it had I not taken a turn to the dark side though. :D Not sure about true bypass, but for me, it's not an issue, since I would be using it in an FX loop.

Marshall Echohead Delay has all your characteristics listed.
They are discontinued, but can still be found everywhere for about $60.
I used to have one, and really liked it.

If you find one you want that isnt true bypass, you could always add one of these loop switchers. Probably a good idea if you are running a few pedals anyways.

Yeah, I hear you. I was already thinking about picking up a 2 loop switcher from Analogman. I guess if I've lived with the DD-3 in my signal chain all this time, the pedal doesn't need to be true bypass....God knows the Boss isn't!

How about the Boost D.L.A.? Any thoughts or feedback on it?

I spoke with FlyAngus, he has the Boost D.L.A and said it's an excellent pedal. Hopefully he'll chime in on this thread :thumbsup:

I have the old one with out the tempo in my loop, cool pedal, the tone knob can really warm up the repeats and the flutter knob is a cool modulation effect if you like that. I find it doesn't really work well set for a really short reverb like delay but is pretty good at everything else. The boost knob can either really cut your sound or boost it, A LOT. I wish they would have put it somewhere else on the pedal, my foot hits sometimes when I click it on and it either BAM way above the mix, or totally disappear.

I'm looking at the DLA myself. The built in boost seems like a killer idea. I'm gonna snatch one up fo sho.

I read on a thread at TGP (I know, I know....) that the guitar signal cuts out for a second on the Boost D.L.A. when you kick the delay on or off. Is there any truth to this? I find it very hard to believe.....
