I can tell you that I tried the Boost DLA and didn't like it. I sent it back because it seemed to slightly blur my tone (both the original and repeats). The clarity just wasn't there for me and I went back to my Guyatone MD-3, which isn't perfect, but clear, and more preferable to me.

I read on a thread at TGP (I know, I know....) that the guitar signal cuts out for a second on the Boost D.L.A. when you kick the delay on or off. Is there any truth to this? I find it very hard to believe.....

Yup this too, you just reminded me, another reason I returned it. I couldn't believe it either when I tried it.

Yup this too, you just reminded me, another reason I returned it. I couldn't believe it either when I tried it.

Mine works flawlessly.
No tone blurring, no cutout.
I use it primarily for high-gain soloing as the boost function bumps up the volume to help your solos stand out.
And I really like the flutter effect on clean tones for warbly tape-like echos.
There's some good demos on YT but I can't link you up coz I'm at work where YT is blocked.
I used the shimmer effect to create an eerie echo in the clean outro of this song (9:47 - 10:40

I had the Time Machine and didn't care much for it.
There was only a subtle difference between the HI-Fi, LO-Fi, Vintage and Modern settings.
The Boost DLA on the other hand can cover more ground using the tone knob and the flutter knob.

Well who are you going to believe? Either those not hearing it are deaf, or some units do it and some don't. Between that and the tone, do you really want to take your chances? It's a cool looking gold box, I'll give it that.

This. I thought the tap tempo version just came out in the past 12 months or so......

I tested it on a pedal board after a dr.boogie style distortion pedal with a cabinet sim direct to the computer. There wasn't any funky fx loop stuff going on. I think I also tested it in the loop of my Single Rectifier with the same result in comparison to the Guyatone. I still had the signal cut out and the "blurry" tone coloration.

the simplifled chain on the direct board was

guitar > dist > boost dla tap > sound card

I don't have the tap tempo version I have the original and I got it maybe a month or so before they hit the shelves, I really wanted the boost... I can't speak for the tap tempo.

The tone knob is designed to warm up the repeats.... I almost keep it off because it can make it a little muddy sounding.

same with the boost version as well, the tone control was worthless IMO

I wouldn't go so far to say worthless. If you are using single coils and wanna beef up the tone I could see a use. Overall I would say it's a step up on some other generic stuff that's out there. I really want to try out the carbon copy though, I must be last person to have not used one.

Oh and both versions have the boost, it's the tap tempo the 1st is missing.

I kept it off too, but I noticed coloration anyway, and not only on the repeats.

MOST RECENT UPDATE TO THREAD QUESTION (7/09/2010)

Can anybody give me some feedback/thoughts on the:
* Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Boy (with Tap Tempo switch)
* Eventide Time Factor

I would be really interested to know if anyone has used an expression pedal with either of these units to control the Feedback level, as I'd like to know if you can send it into self oscillation and, ultimately, get the oscillation to swell and build in volume and intensity with the expression pedal (e.g., similar to the 'Warp' function on the SolidGoldFX Electroman.
