Guitars I use are a bunch of Les Pauls through various amps. Looking for a fat and juicy high gain pedal with lots of mids and am not a fan of scooped tones at all. Think Sykes bad boys or children of the night type saturation which steers well clear of hornets in jam jar sounds.

What would you suggest I look at ?

Oh and hi everybody :D

Amptweaker Tight Metal. Just don't use the scoop function and you'll have lots of mids.

These are awesome  BFJE designed. Donner just started selling the Dyna Red last Friday and I bought one. I like it allot. Bjorn flew over here and worked out the design and the correct components joining with Donner for a venture offering the pedals in higher numbers. I just saw a BFJE Cliffhanger sell for 1200.00. The Dyna Red is anywhere up to 500. You can purchase for 222.00 shipped and the bearfoot version is suppossedly just as good.

Interesting... I have heard great things about the Dyna Red, but they have always been very pricey and hard to get. $220 is much more reasonable.

barber supersport or the dirty bomb.
both are nice pedals.

I bought one of those recently just for the fun of it. I ended up returning it for a BB preamp with a mid-boost. I couldn't find a setting on the tone knob I liked. For my tastes, I felt it needed a better eq or maybe a 10 band in the loop. I did think it sounded better through the SS Carvin FET 1000 power amp than through the loop return of my KT88 Nitro too.

Suhr Riot?

Avoid the Riot, Unless you have a fender type clean amp. It doesn't sound good in other settings. And even then I didn't like that pedal

I like the OCD and the Tonebone Hot British

i thought about getting the riot but after reading some opinions im not sure i would like it because its supposed to be loose in the lows. i actually wanted it to play thru a clean fender amp too.

The Riot slays on a clean amp. Sounded fantastic on my Herbert's clean channel but was fairly useless on any gain channel. Maybe the Koko Boost is a better choice?

It's a killer sounding little pedal. I tried it into a Plexi circuit and it blended perfectly. I also tried it into a high headroom clean channel and again it worked very well. Thought some of you guys should know about about the joint venture. BFJE is highly regarded and expensive as you know. Donner is suppossed to be doing some other models also. I know he is not doing the Cliffhanger though as Mad Professor will be offering The Stone Grey distortion which is based off of that pedal. They work with Bjorn also.

Out of all the pedals you listed here, can you single out one or two that if used with a clean channel tube amp would deliver the same intensity, punch and sustain as sykes bad boys tone ? The crunchbox is one id consider but the riot doesnt sound as liquid smooth and creamy to my ears at all. The riot sounds very barking like a DS1 ( bleh ) to me and I dont think it would sound that great with the neck pickup on one of my les pauls.

Think Sykes tone on blue murders track ptolemy , that is one sick badass guitar sound and thats exactly what I am after.

I'd go for the Wampler Plextortion, Mine sounds great infront of a clean amp.
