Fellas , suggest a high gain drive pedal for me please.

While there were several OCD recommendations, I'd steer clear of that one. It's a good low to mid gain crunchy overdrive, but it does not sound good at all as a higher gain distortion box. There are no mids whatsoever in the OCD. It has a very cool amp-like feel and crunch, and complex overtones and harmonics, but turns into a harsh, fuzzy mess when you attempt to get higher gain out of it. Just my opinion, but I've used it through a Fender Deluxe Reissue, a Blues Deville, Marshall 1959 reissue, and my dual rec with the same results.

I'd try a Wampler, a Riot, Tonefreak Severe, or maybe the new Voodoo Lab modded Sparkle drive. There are literally hundreds of great sounding od/distortions now that have amp-like gain qualities.

I checked this one out on youtube just to get a somewhat limited listen to how it sounds , but even on YT that thing sounds seriously buzzy to me.

I wonder if its down to the wood used in that guitar or the fact that it uses a floating trem that it has so little sustain

Mine sustains much much better than that.

Feast your ears on this little beauty , this is what I want . If you asked me who has the finest high gain rock tone , Id say John Sykes in a heartbeat. Wait until you hear his solo on this one , words just fail me.

It's tricky when there is more than one equal sign. You do not want any = signs.

Got this quote off a comment on a YT vid for Blue Murder doing Jelly Roll on a TV show.

"The 80s - when even "random" studio musicians that formed the backbone of even the more obscure power rock outfits had more talent in their pee than the likes of Bieber, his daddy Usher, all the Disney starlets or Adam Lambert had in the whole of their beings combined. Not that I want you damn kids to get off my lawn or anything."

As for a pedal recommendation: I haven't tried too many "high gain" pedals because I typically use a high gain amp. However, I really do enjoy my riot. It'll get you to a point where you'll be 90% with your high gain tone while simply playing through your clean channel.

Unfortunately as good as pedals are being made these days, it's very hard to get the feel and thump of a cranked up Marshall which is what I believe Sykes uses.

I have a Wampler Pinnacle II which does a fine job when I need a stack in a box.....

That Amptweaker pedal is pretty sweat. And that's coming from a guy who hates 'distortion' pedals.

Wampler pinnacle will get you there for sure. I LOVE it with a clean-ish Marshall and LP, fantastic pedal for high gain stuff!

Not at all. The key is to have a nice 12AX7 in it. And being tube you can match to taste. I run mine into an SLO that has a Hiwatt front end. Simply amazing.

Agree... This pedal will turn ANYTHING into a Fire breathing Dragon with Sykes Marshall madness, imo.
