this is why i admire this guy so much--our own Mark K whipping out the goods

now listen to what he was doing back in the 80s in hawaii as lead singer/guitarist for Sacred Rite, while was watching at every show i could get to, just trying to learn purple haze on a crappy hondo strat and peavey tko80 bass amp--jump to the solos to expedite the fear!

just listen to this one top to bottom! the bass player and drummer were great when they were ON--mark was ALWAYS ON!

my first guitar hero....every bit as good as the heroes of the day....love you braddah!

no major effects, just raw fucking talent. brilliant playing and tasteful van halen licks - i used to be an avid van halen fan and i know from first hand experience playing at band volumes pulling that off without anything to hide behind WHILE singing takes some serious skill. its one thing to know the notes, its a whole different level to accent them the VH way.

thanks for sharing Pat

the fact that he never reached superstardom kills me when a band like poison did.

and totally unrelated (except for the phase 90 connection) but this guy just kills me with this tune--my favorite new artist/music/song of 2011:

The legend of Billy Bogner

Man Mark was on fire playing Im the One, such good chops and phrasing.

Pleasant to look at as well and he can sing.......................hate that dude :D

I remember watching Sacred Rite at the Queen Theater kick ass. Man I miss the 80's... those were the days.

That's freaking slick! Great voice and tune.

i grew up within walking distance of queen theater and saw many a cool surf movie there before it became a porno house
saw the ill fated megadeth/aaronsrod show there when the band broke up

unfortunately i'd already moved to cali before SR became the house band for rocky horror and did shows at queen

it was amazing how metal oahu was back in the day..great players!

did you by chance see marty friedman at the coconut grove with "hawaii" back in the day?
classic metal moment..he's in the audience with a 100 foot cable, spinning on his back at the foot of my table soloing with his eyes closed, when his cord comes out of one of his THREE mxr distortion boxes, instant wall of ground noise, scampering back to the stage dejected to try to fix the tangled mess.

That was awesome but has little if anything to do with why I dig Mark and his playing so much. For the most part, someones ability to play someone elses stuff doesnt impress me all that much. Sure there are instances where it can be cool but doesnt tell me much beyond the fact that the guy learned someone elses stuff

Ive loved Marks playing from day one, from all of the old forum jams that we used to do and all of the Sacred Rite material. The guys playing and style is slick as hell, covers be damned,,,

Secondly and most importantly, Mark is a DEAD SEXY BITCH and I have a serious ManCrush on him

Carry on

awesome man, loved that!
yeah this guy was playing all the big boys solos note for note when we were in high school

they used to do shows at a teen club called yorks when we were all under age, and mark was playing and singing killer rock anthems like scorpions "we'll burn the sky" and "blackout", tygers of pan tang "gangland", triumph "blinding light show" michael schenker "armed and ready" and "lights out", ozzy "crazy train", priest/maiden/riot/def lep; anything that was cool guitar rock/metal they were covering,
as well as insane originals, and they opened big shows for ozzy, quiet riot, and yngwie/alcatrazz, and probably a few others i didn't see....

he and marty friedman used to teach guitar lessons at a shop called hot licks, which is the store zachman works at now.

monster player here on the forum i went to high school with on oahu, also zachman's cousin; both these guys in high school were better players than most people twice their age, and i was lucky enough to have them as friends showing me cool solos and teaching me the secrets!

--there was really a cool rock scene on the island in the 80s/90s and the rock concerts were great because most of the big acts ended the tour there and put on insane shows..priest screaming, scorps blackout, triumph allied, boston, ozzy diary (post randy  and bark/jake) dio last in line, yngwie alcatrazz and marching last police syncronicity w/srv and brian adams, great shows! mark's band sacred rite opened for quite a few biggies being that they were THE best rock band in hawaii

mark also used to be in an east coast band called bomb squad in the 90s and played a bunch at hammerjacks in baltimore-
i went to a show they did at the roxy or maybe the whiskey on a mini tour they did that was great!
