Female Vocalist Favorite?

Ok Every one, I'm preping to fill in as guitarist for a local band who's guitarist I taught and youngster and is on leave because hsi wife is having thier first child, the band has a female vocalist and I sware she is Ann Wilson incarnate!!! So.............. I would like to know who you all think is the best Female vocalist of rock????????????????

For me it's a toss up (depending on the day) between Ann Wilson (Wich is by the way a teen crush of mine) and Pat Benatar!

So What do you say Rig-Talk Brethern???????
 
Karen Carpenter but I love a lot of female vocalists.
 
Fergie rocked pretty good with Slash on a vid posted here.
 
Melissa Etheridge, may not have the vocal pipes of an Ann Wilson or pat benatar, but I like here music.

Joan Jett should get a mention too.... :)

She was a phenomenal talent. Definitely one of the best female vocalists of all time.

^Far and away my favorite, but there are others. Since this has been taken, and this might be unpopular, I love Bjork. Damn that girl gives me goosebumps.
 
You Know, Since you bring it up "Bjork" is a good one! And Melissa is also extremly talented! Keep em coming!
 
I am of the opinion that there is no such thing as a good female "rock" vocalist. It's an oxymoron. When a chick is singing rock it automatically defaults to "chick" music. I do however appreciate female vocalists: the Wilson sisters, Sheryl Crow, PJ Harvey etc.
 
Who ever sang for the Pretenders was awesome (as is the singer in Yeah Yeah Yeah who sounds just like her). Bjork if that counts is killer.
 
Right now for rock Lizzy Hale hands down to me

..Amy Lee from Evanecence.

Ann Wilson is, imo the best female rock singer of all time! I'm a bit biased, as I studied voice with the same instructor she did.
