I will probably regret it but here we go:
This guitar has a very strange history: the woods are hand selected by Masterbuilder Dale Wilson and Jörg Hermann and specs are also considered in that way. Their initial plan was to make this guitar as a Masterbuilt one. Later in that year, due to being extremely occupied, Dale Wilson asked his team to build the guitar up and they came up with the title “Masterbuilder Designed” (MBD). So this is from the first MBD batch which was limited to 3 guitars, being all woods are hand selected by Dale Wilson. This story was told to me by Jörg Hermann himself.
It has Poblano single coils (they cannot be found in team builts except Poblano Stratocaster, only in Masterbuilts) and a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates humbucker. There is no jump in volume or so, extremely balanced, very versatile guitar. The is very comfortable with a “60s Style Oval C” shape, 9.5” radius.
I changed the bridge pickup to Arcane Inc. Triple 8. It’s a better of a bridge pickup to my ears but of course the Pearly Gates will also be provided.
The guitar is in very good condition. There’s only a small ding below the body (check photo), that’s the only additional ding to the already heavy aged body.
All the COA, proof that the body is hand-selected by Jörg Hermann and Dale Wilson can be privided.
New price of the MBD series are 6999€.
This was the first guitar I ever bought with my own money, so it means a lot to me. But I’m not a collector; I believe instruments should be played, and if something isn’t getting the time it deserves, it’s better off in the hands of someone who will truly use it.
