Anyone have experience with these amps? I'm looking for a good solid, Fender blackface-toned combo.

They're nice amps, I've heard the newer silverface reissue ones are better but haven't played them. Only thing I'd say is that I tend to prefer 12s vs 10s for live use myself but that's subjective (unless 4X10 then sure). For recording 10s can sound great.

To be clear, I'm talking about the Custom Vibrolux Reverb (which I think is what you were talking about as well). I've heard that aside from it being a little noisy (hissy) it's pretty sweet. There are mods that give it more headroom and make it quieter and a little more "blackface."

The other one I'm looking at is a '63 Vibroverb RI (this is the amp Nuno used on Waiting For The Punchline). Always LOVED that tone.

Sweet is a good word. I think they do the sweet fender clean thing better than they do OD tones (can get a little harsh). But I'm sure there are mods around that if that's what you're after. Depends what you want, a vibroking would be better IMO for OD tones in that vein but also a lot more $.

The Vibroverb RI I would prefer over the Vibrolux Ri but it's subjective really.

Really cool amp. I've been thinking of getting one my self. Keep in mind that you might consider replacing the stock Jensen. It's an OK speaker, but not what I'd keep if I had one.

Had one. Very noisy. Something about negative feedback loop.
It was one of the amps that made me realize I really don't like 10in speakers for guitar. When close micing they are harsh and small.
Tough to find a gain pedal that works well. Got rid of it after really trying to make it work for me.

Those amps rip with a Les Paul and turned up. Just need to keep the bass low for a tighter sound. You can always use one of the extension speaker jacks to go into a 12 cab. Or do that and bypass the 10's altogether. I think they're great amps. The reverb isn't as good as a deluxe reverb re-issue but the tremolo is better than the D.R.R.I.
