Anyone ever try out a set of these?

I've been thinking about getting them for my strat. Apparently they have that "texas special" type tone with a little bit more of a kick for overdrive.

Opinions?

I had a set in a MIM Strat and thought the mid and neck were great, the bridge was really bright, hot, and a little rough on the ears. Traded it out for a Hot Raills and that guitar was a winner. Should never have sold it.

So they take overdrive nicely, and cleans are great too? :)

I had them in my Jimmie Vaughan strat and didn't like them at all really. Go for some Van Zandt Vintage + pickups if they are in your price range, those pickups are sweet as hell.

Hmm, these all seem great. What i'm looking for is some new pups that have great "strat" cleans. But also have great attack when playing something overdriven.

Check out the Van Zandts dude. I've tried Fralins as well and the Van Zandts were so much better to me.

Check out the Blues or Rock models if you want more hair.

 You may also want to consider Duncan alnico II Strat or Quarterpound strat pickups. I would go with any of these before the Tex-Mex pickups.

Well, the cleans aren't great, the tex-mex are best when dirty. I'd go with a set of BG vintage 60's, or Rio Grange Tallboys. Both are great sets.

I tried them in an Agile strat. I did not like them at all. They seemed very plain sounding and weak. I ended up putting the agile pickups back in and they have been fine. I'm not sure I understand what the hype is all about. I suppose it's mostly marketing and the SRV image.

The van zandt pickups though. I'm checking out the blues ones and it seems they make a lot of buzz :(
