If you can go a little higher it'd up your LP game a tad...I snagged an '89 Custom for under 2k a little while back.

I'm seriously considering this option hehe.

With me the thing is I would have to buy Edwards and/or FGN untested. Would not be able to try before I buy. So I figure I'll try to be patient and grow my budget to be able to test the guitar I'm buying ;)
Sami I had one of the Edwards LPC's with P90's. Hated the pickups and had it routed for hum buckers. Killer guitar that I'd put up against any production Gibson. Brought it to GC and played it back to back against some actual LPC's and honestly, I PERSONALLY did not feel the $2k difference. I really expected the Gibson to kick the Edwards in the nuts and it just didn't.

Now, I am not slandering a Gibson LP in any way shape or form, I would still probably take an Edwards over most Gibson LP's any day of the week.

This was mine

I recently had a 80's Burny LPC that easily was as good sounding and playing as the Gibsons I have and have had. Would get another Japanese LP anytime. Would also get a Gibson at the right price too.

As it happens, the local mom & pop store has 2 Gibson LPs: A new 2015 Less Plus and a 2013 Traditional. Played both briefly yesterday and I have to say they left me unimpressed.

Especially the Less Plus... for almost $1600, very MEH. The neck felt too wide & flat, didn't really sound like, well, anything unplugged. The Traditional was a notch better to me, but for almost $1900, left me very uninspired. My Chinese Tokai LPC sounded & felt almost as good unplugged

I tried a Japanese Tokai LP Standard copy as well. Priced just a tad under $1000 it felt & sounded the best of that bunch, easily too.

So... this visit to the shop left me even more confused LOL :D

I'm relocating in abt a month a lot closer to bigger music shops, and I figure I'll go and play as many LP shaped guitars I can, ESP, Tokai, Gibson, what have you, before making up my mind. But reading the responses in this thread I feel I could get an Edwards from eBay and be totally happy with it :D .
