Hello, fellow musical interwebs peeps. Maybe someone can help me out. I've been thinking about throwing some "Gretsch-style" Filtertron or TV Jones pickups into my Les Paul copy..

First off, is this something I can just do without having to rout out wood from the guitar?

And, what are your guys' opinions on the difference between a regular Filtertron and a TV Jones Magnatron??
Any preferences/suggestions?

Thanks

You shouldn't need to do any additional routing, but you can also get them specifically made to mount in a normal humbucker ring. Probably worth your time to check out Lollar as well.

Never tried the the Magnatron but the TV Jones website pretty much says all you'll need to know.

As rupe said TV jones makes a bunch of different mounting options for filtertron pickups. I love the Classic and classic plus I have in my Gretsch Brian Setzer Hot rod.

You can look for a pulled set of Reverend Revtrons as well. Really solid pickups in that genre.
