I can't stand the sound of the bright switches to the right.

Usually, I set the first switch (Bright1) to the right, and the second bright switch to the middle with the era switch set to 80's mode. For using the modern mode sometimes I set both switches to the right while Resonance and Presence are between 11 and 1 o'clock and the Pussy-Trim shows 2 o'clock.

I would assume that the Yeti is in that area somehow different voiced. Also I use 6550's delivering a little bit tighter base sound.

I have dialed in your settings and have a pretty good idea which sound you are after. Nevertheless your setting is giving me a growl that I cannot really control while recording - might be my playing, but this kept me away from posting a comparison between these two settings.

Also I have realised that my Yeti settings are coming nearer to the 2550 character - obviously I got caught by my listening habits :)

That growl is exactly what I love. By putting one bright switch to the left, one to the right, and era to the right, you can get some really aggressive tones. Especially when you drop the gain on the channel with the bright switch to the left down below 10:00 with the other gain up around 2:00+. You get some mean grind.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Meanwhile I have moved on and I am coming nearer to your world :)
With regard to that growl, I have realised that I have to bring more air between cab and mic. It was only dominant while trying to get something into garage band.

Nevertheless I still enjoy the versatility of this amp. The flavour of the day is currently:

Tomorrow I will spend some time on your suggested settings.

Interesting. To me, those settings would seem to be super bass-heavy and super bright. I'll give 'em a try, though. And my master is usually up around 1:00+ :D

This comparison of settings is quiet interesting.

There is now definitely the proof that the chupa and the yeti are voiced much more different then I thought initially. I have dialed in your settings with the Pussy trim at around 2 o'clock and even if I bring up the master it stays very dark.

I am still sure that it is possible to get similar results from both amps, but with the Yeti you have to dial in some extra brightness to walk the same road.

Bass heavy is correct but it is not super bright :)

I have shared one clip of the Yeti:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUJ4O58UEYs

In the clip I used nearly the same settings. Only the first bright switch was in the middle and presence at 6. The presence changed from 4 to 6 with a little less treble covers more or less the different brightness of the other switch position.

Ahhh I forgot to reply here, THERE SURE IS NEWS WORTH SHARING!!!

5 weeks??? I'm not sure if it's because I'm a return customer of Nik's... but I had mine in my hands a little over a week after I ordered it :D He said something about being out of JCM/Plexi/Silver Jube faceplates, so I got to jump the line... but I'm just going assume I got rockstar treatment ;)

Here's my Yeti with the current rig...

My settings are quite different to what you guys are running, but I'm going for quite a different sound. The Yeti got her debut at a gig lastnight actually. It held up beautifully! Another gig this sunday too :) But yep, SO many sounds in this amp! Versatile as. I wrote a review for another forum a couple of days after I got it with my first impressions, do you guys want me to post it here?

Very Nice - Congratulations. Nice Gretsch as well. Quiet obvious that you are chasing a little bit different tone ...

If you don't mind posting your review, I would be interested in reading it.

Okkkeys, here's what I wrote the week I got it....

So recently I decided to take a gamble on the Ceriatone Yeti. It's part of Ceriatone's Hot Rodded Plexi series, based on the Jose mods commonly done to Plexi's, but with some tweaks. I was chasing somewhere in the tonal area of the Wizard Modern Classic, which is basically a Rick's take on a the vintage Marshall thing ... just a FREAKING nice take at that. I was trying to get somewhere in the Chris Cheney (The Living End)/Mal Young (ACDC) ballpark for those playing at home. My thoughts?

WOW. It is a beast. ABSOLUTE beast.

Up until yesterday I had only tried it out through a mates cheapish 300 watt Randall quad with four Celestion 75 watters... it didn't like them very much for what I was after. HUUGEEE clean sound, but too harsh and couldn't get it to break up how I wanted. But it sounded great for really heavy tones, metal tones. It stayed really tight with a HEAP of gain, even had my grtesches sounding br000talz for a laugh :D Impressive! BUT it wasn't MY sound. I could hear the sounds I was after in there... I just couldn't reach them.

THEN I tried it out through another mates 400+ watt Marshall Quad with four Eminence V something-or-others in there, which are really high wattage speakers. AND they hadn't been broken in yet. Again, still a liiiiiitle bit too bright for my likings, but once those speakers are broken in I could see that sounding AWESOME. Great for 80's hard rock tones, freaking nailed it. My friend plugged in his ibanez super strat styled guitbox and shredded the thing to pieces. It was Whitesnake/George Lynch/EVH stuff eat your heart out. Suited it perfectly, even sounded great with the gretsch. Closer.... but again... not EXACTLY my sound.

Yesterday... MY NEW QUADBOX ARRIVED! It's from the 90's, tastefully beat up and has some KILLER Greenbacks - "made in england" ones too (don't know if that makes any difference whatsover... but thought I would make the note :) ). It was actually owned by the guitarist in Rhubarb, a late 90's Aussie punk band some of you might remember for their hit Exercisor? "I'm an ex-eeexxxxx-exercisssooorrrrr" And apparently it's done a heap of shows with Antiskeptic? So it's done 4 Big Day Out tours, Homebake, Falls Festival.... hopefully it's got a got a few awesome festival sets left in it :D But yep, WELL broken in greenbacks!

So how did the greenbacks sound with the Yeti? FREAKING PERFECT. Living End "Roll On" album tones for daayysssssss. Bitey as all hell, awesome mid range growl too... in a good way! AND the greenbacks really rolled off that harsh top end that i was worried this amp was going to have, after my experiences with them different speaker cabs. It dirty's up realllllly nice. Early AC/DC and Roll On tones? NAILS IT. But the best part... SO TIGHT! It just doesn't loosen up like my JTM tended to do when you had a bit of gain happening, especially in the bottom end. Which is what I'm after! OH and the Yeti has a really healthy bottom end too, OH YEAH!! Not enormous, but really well rounded and stays nice and tight. It stays pretty clear with gain too if you want it to... not Wizard clear, but it's not meant to be that clear. It's a hot rodded marshall for effs sake!

I didn't really get a chance to mess around with the settings too much with the greenbacks yet, I just had it on the modern setting with the gains rolled back most of the way and the master cranked up. SO much gain on tap if you want it. It can get really heavy if need be. I had it set pretty tame!

But JESUS I am keen to get the dual amp thing happening. I rekon my JTM running clean-ish with the Yeti running dirty will be a KILLER combo. I've got a Lehle Dual SGoS on the way to make this happen

But yeah... there's my thoughts on the Yeti so far for you gents. Paired with the greenbacks, it is the best marshall-styled amp I have ever played. I love it to bits and couldn't be happier with my buy. For $1300 odd Aussie bucks delivered to my door.... over the freaking moon

And to add to that, dual amping it with my JTM combo is SO NICE. It's a 2x12 with G12H30's in it. I run the Yeti dirty and the JTM clean-ish, bringing out a heap of clarity. Sounds awesome!

Yeah I'm almost certain that I'm going for different tones to most blokes around here... but that's a testament to the versatility of this amp! I've heard it do old school hi gain rock, 80's hard rock, br00talz metal and now the AC/DC thing... is there any Marshall amp application the Yeti can't nail!?!?!?! So happy with it, an absolute STEAL for the $$$.

I chucked up a video demo of my strymon timeline, and the Yeti is being used in the clip. Check out the way I use, VEERRYY different to how alot of you gents have it running... but it really does show how versatile it is.

And that's in the Modern Mode too!
