Something I love about my AC30 is how well it takes pedals. I can run a distorsion pedal in the front and it just sounds great. Then off it goes for a total clean, warm tone. Just a great amp.

Scott,
I hate to be a party pooper here but, you haven't heard a Vox until you get to crank an old JMI era AC30 or AC15. I don't wanna bust anyones bubble here but I have played them extensively. The new ones are very one dimensional sounding compared to the older ones... When you really crank an old one you do get a bit of compression happening as well and talk about takin' pedals! WOW!

The Heritage Ac-15 head that I played was absolutely incredible. If I had the cash I would have bought it on the spot.

Great sounding amp. Sucks to be a poor college kid.

my favorite clean sound(from clips) is the vox, and I have never played one.
When people mention a nice clean tone 'Fender' always is the first thing mentioned...I'll take the Vox voicing, the mids aren't as scooped.
It's big, warm and full with a great top end.

I acutally prefer Marshall types for cleans....in fact, my Aiken Intruder has some of the bvest clean tone I've ever encountered
