Here's my first stab at tracking with my 2013 Splawn Quick Rod. It is the low B+ version. To be fair this is NOT the normal Rig Talk fair. More pop punk influenced. I think I may be one of the only punk guys on the Splawn roster! LOL!

2 tracks, one hard left one hard right using my PRS SC245 loaded with PRS 57/08 buckers. I generally record with my AMT preamps (R1/P1) into my interface direct but really wanted to try getting the Splawn down.

This is Gear 2, OD 2. These are basically scratch tracks but I think it sounds promising. This is a new song I am working out for my band Cherry 2000.

Here's the settings.

Anywho …

Yup...sounds excellent. Splawns record really easy. I mean, just throw a damn mic in front of it and you are good.

Thanks!

Well I guess I should let the cat outta the bag then.

I am running a Behringer UltraG between my cab and head. Using the XLR out into my recording interface and using ReCabinet 3 for cab IR's.

The volume on the amp was "conversational level". Unfortunately I don't have cool neighbors and low volume or silent rescording is what I'm left with. I'd love to mic it up proper. Used a Greenback and Bogner cab on the left and Greenback and Orange cab on the right.

Literally spent about an hour tracking and futzing with a quick mix for reference but for $30 that Behringer works really well.

Good call!!! That is way cool! I record my 5150III with the line out, but Splawns don't have that...what a great option.

You can use the "fx send" but this sounds way better. I assume because with the fx send you are not getting any of the power amp coloring the signal.

$30 for the Behringer, $30 for ReCabinet and you've got, IMHO, a solid low volume direct recording set up using your own amp.

Nice sound! I love my QR, really wish it had the B+ option but it's still a ripping amp.

Thanks! Hands down, my favorite amp I've owned over the last 2+ decades of playing.

I dig it. I'm a huge fan of this sort of music dating back to my middle school days discovering the Ramones.

Nice! Glad you dig it. Some shameless self promotion here:

We are kind of a mash up of Ramones, Misfits, Vandals, Dickies and Offspring

Lots of silly potty humor mixed with a little death and gore but served in a catchy type of sound.

I do all the recording myself. I am no pro but get stuff to a point where I'm happy to release. All tracks can be downloaded free.

All the stuff posted is using:
• AMT R1/P1 preamps (Recto/5150 pedal sized Jfet preamps)
• ReCabinet 3 for IR's (cab sim)
• Steven Slate Platinum 4 (drums)
• Studio Devil Bass Pro (bass amp sim)

Going forward I'll be using the Splawn for sure.

Nicely done, guitars sound great.

Can't wait to hear the finished product, great job brother!!

Nice. All that music is what I think "fun" sounds like.
