That’s crazy to me. The MTL II has more gain and saturation. The mids sit lower (6L6 in mine), and the low end has some sub bass going on like a VH4.
Meh... the differences I heard were too small to care about.

I can see that. Was this your first time playing a wizard?Congrats! I'm also interested to know what you think of the HR compared to the others you had. I recently played an MTL II and a HR on an amp/cab switcher. So I could switch back and forth in real time and honestly... I didn't hear much of a difference between the two lol. It was like flipping a bright switch on an amp. Maybe a tiny difference but it still sounded like the same amp.

Doing the amp switcher thing is by far the most accurate way to make sure there is no imagination/memory coloring. It was. But I didn't set them up, the owner did. I just plugged in and played them back and forth. I even had the owner turn around and try to guess which one I was playing. That went about as you'd expect.

That is what I love about Matt's setup. The only thing cooler is running the best amps you find in stereo. Especially if they are complimentary voiced (low mid)/(high mid)
What tubes were yall running?Meh... the differences I heard were too small to care about.
I believe the HR had KT88 and the MTL II had EL34.What tubes were yall running?
I can’t recognize this at all! The different is not subtleCongrats! I'm also interested to know what you think of the HR compared to the others you had. I didn't know that about the noise..i played a preproduction..but it wasnt nearly as noisy as the bogner. But i have heard the HR is noisy. Just never experienced itAlso. Whatever issues there was with noise he has adressed it. Very quiet do that amount of gain. Much different than uber ultra
This is the pinnacle of wizard IMO
I kinda wanna change all the LED's and juwel light for green. haha.
Where do i find fitting lights for it???
It’s really not about the low end. The clear gain and punch is something only a handful of amps are capable of.Congratulations and thanks for the clip!
That said: I hear everybody raving about the Hellrazor, but it's so hard to tell why it's so special. Most of the clips I've heard don't really convey what most people call "Pants flapping, chest punching low end".
I could never imagine owning a 6k amp as well, so guess I'll never know haha

With all the gear passing by i would be stupid not to own a HR as well![]()
