Finally took the plunge - Wizard HR

That’s crazy to me. The MTL II has more gain and saturation. The mids sit lower (6L6 in mine), and the low end has some sub bass going on like a VH4.

Meh... the differences I heard were too small to care about.

Congrats! I'm also interested to know what you think of the HR compared to the others you had. I recently played an MTL II and a HR on an amp/cab switcher. So I could switch back and forth in real time and honestly... I didn't hear much of a difference between the two lol. It was like flipping a bright switch on an amp. Maybe a tiny difference but it still sounded like the same amp.
I can see that. Was this your first time playing a wizard?

It was. But I didn't set them up, the owner did. I just plugged in and played them back and forth. I even had the owner turn around and try to guess which one I was playing. That went about as you'd expect.
Doing the amp switcher thing is by far the most accurate way to make sure there is no imagination/memory coloring.

That is what I love about Matt's setup. The only thing cooler is running the best amps you find in stereo. Especially if they are complimentary voiced (low mid)/(high mid)

Yeah, the amp/cab switchers are great for A/B/Y testing in real time.
