Finished My Pedalboard

Just finished putting this together. It's only the 2nd or 3rd board I've done but it's the first time I attempted to clean up the wiring. It was a cool learning experience. It works great and there's no noise so I suppose I should be glad about that. For the AC, I ordered some connectors from Voodoo and just cut down the cables that came with the ISO 5s. I've had the George Ls for years and never had a problem with them. I don't gig so the thing will be sitting in my office. I built the board from MDF, oak and laminate. I have two like it and re-purposed this one. It's bigger than I anticipated but again, I don't have to worry about bringing it anywhere. Any way, here's a pic.

So far so good. I have to play with the Timeline and Mobius. The Mobius is set up with the 4CM so depending on how the preset is configured, it can be in front of the amp or in the loop. The loop in the Mark V:25 is always on. There's no switch. So I might as well use it. I also recently got a Weber Z-Matcher so that I can run the Bogner at 16 ohms from the Mark's 8 ohm jack. I had it wired for 4 ohms for a while and then went back to 16. Sixteen is a safe mismatch through the 8 ohm jack but the Z-Matcher has a line out and level knob on it so you can feed another amp/effects for Wet/Dry. I thought it was a cool option to have.

I have to tell you, it's the first pedal compressor I've owned besides what was in the Nova System, Axe FX and Kemper. I've never used them. But when I got the TL and Mobius, a bunch of the vids I saw, where guys were doing ambient, looper stuff, had compressors thrown in for sustain. Then I saw Pete's demo and decided to get one. I can't compare to anything but it really does make clean sounds sound more "polished" and processed in a good way. It changes the feel a bit in that, since your dynamics are squashed, you want to pick harder because everything is so even. Then you remind yourself why you got a compressor in the first place. Haven't really used it with lead tones. I don't know if I will as I got it for cleans. But Pete's demo is very accurate. I basically copied what he does in the vid and I hear the same results for the most part.

The rig is done now so I just need to clean up the mess in the room and record some stuff. It's part of my resolution for 2015.

That looks great but I'm thinking it may be hard to access your tuner with it behind the wah. I try to always put mine off to the side for easy access as I use it for a mute also.

True. You can't tell from the pic but it's on a plywood riser that I sprayed black. As are the Strymon pedals. It's actually easy to turn it on and off. I have it on all the time in any case. It's not actually in the signal path as it's running off the volume pedal's tuner out jack. Note there is nothing coming out of the tuner so I don't have to worry about the signal being muted due to it's being on all the time.
