I've been working on my project studio. I added some speaker stands and wall treatments plus added a new mic, cables and tried to tune the room as much as I could.

First clip I worked on in the updated space:

Recent additions: Monitor stands (filled with sand), auralex foam on walls/ceilings to break up the walls and a Shure KSM32 condenser mic. Previously I also upgraded all my cables and I am waiting on the last bits and pieces to arrive: A USB isolator and some zalman fans to quiet my PC. The isolator should fix a problem with some high pitched crosstalk I am hearing when I move the mouse etc.

Some pics (a bit dark but you get the idea):

I used T pins to put up the foam...Worked a treat and does not glue up the walls. The stands have spikes on them so they go through the carpet and make a good contact with the floor.

Looks great, loved the album you put out. I guess I can now look forward to hearing more new stuff now !

Looks great man! May the hours be constructive and fun in your new cave!

Looks awesome; can't go wrong with a Marshall and a 5150. Enjoy!

Yep. The 5150 is great if I need a more modern tone/more gain but I generally use the JCM800.

Very nicely done!
How did you determine the type of acoustic materials to put on the walls and where?

I'm finishing mine right now and was wondering.

you should get airspace between that mounted foam and the wall, without the standing wave between the dampener and the reflection the panel's efficiency is reduced.

I asked on the gearslutz forum, plus I googled a lot of smaller room pics and how they were treated. I also walked around the room clapping hard and listened for that slapback/through a toilet roll type of sound and broke up the wall where I heard it. The worst was right behind the monitors. I was getting this beam of nasty white noise in the highs.

Since my vocal booth is right behind me, and the window is pretty close to the monitors I was expecting a problem but it's fine. Probably becaise the wall they are mounted on is carpeted. In a perfect world my monitors would be upright, but most studios have the tweeter closer to ear level. A few more questions and some peeps told me 95% of the time the woofers are on the inside.

Re the window on my right, it has wooden slats/blinds so that is perfect. I was also expecting more trouble with the corners/bass traps but I heard no tell tell sounds back there so I left it. I have some auralex left over but so far so good.

The link between the head and the monitors should be a perfect triangle too. I figure if I am going to put so much work into my music, I should tune the room as well as the guitar, haha.
