I'm looking for advice on these 2 Amps. The fireball 100 I was able to play in depth. I here's some good reviews on the Thrasher but I wasn't able to play it. The fireball has that gritty girth. I'm wondering if the Thrasher get dirty and heavy as well. There's a brightness to it in all the clips I hear. Even when low end is added it sounds seperated like weird to me. Like the lows n that brightness are not blended together.

The fireball was killer got to play it loud as hell w pro cab. Very diff than herbert.

I've been using Diezel Herbert for a long time as well as other diezels and many other amps I'm looking for something new.

Who here has played these Amp's extensively without biased review? Live n studio. Not just in a bedroom.

Well, for one the ENGL is made in Germany where the Thrasher is made in China. In my book, pretty tough to go from a hand made in Germany Herbert, to an assembly line Chinese amp.

I had a Powerball and liked it, thought it sounded somewhat similar to the Diezel tone too.

I have a Herbert and I just traded away my Fireball 100 about a month ago. Had it for about 3 years and really really enjoyed it. It is a SICK amp and I loved it. It was my main amp in my old techdeth band but after we broke up and I joined a more rock oriented band I stopped using the Engl and started only using the Herbert. The Fireball is great if you are looking for a raw damaging tone that will melt the flesh from your enemies bones. I don't think you will be disappointed with it.

Fireball is totally diff than Herbert. I played them side by side. Also tried se,invader new one , Smolski, Blackmore,n morse the SE was very nice lots of bullshit to play with. But the fireball filled the room 3D crushing articulate tone. The se w get there but the others were no fireball.

How was it live?

I had a Fireball 100 for a while also... Very good amp. It was my personal favorite out of all of the ENGL's I tried and I had the chance to own the SE, Invader, Powerball, Savage, Morse, Fireball 60, and the Thunder.
The Fireball 100 is WAY better than the 60 watt version though just keep in mind. I used the Fireball 100 in a Metal band for a little while and it was actually very awesome live, one of the best live tones I have had.

Honestly one of the best live sounding amps I have ever used. It always filled the venue with crushing guitar tone. I had a sound guy tell me that it sounded like a "huge angry dog trying to attack you from the other side of a fence". I feel that is pretty accurate.

I feel you can dial in a decent metal tone yeah

Fireball 100 all the way. I've had both and the Fireball is way better than the Thrasher. I didn't like the Thrasher at all. The Thrasher has this weird, unpleasant midrange that can't be dialed out and it didn't seem to have enough gain.

Is that what I hear in the videos. Every video it has this weird tone. Even when they dial in more bottom it's like they are seperated unnatural sounding. I couldn't put my finger on it but I hear it in every clip. Like it is missing it's soul ???
Make sense ?

I only had the Fireball 100. Great kick ass amp!! Played it in Band settings every weekend cranked FN loud!
I dont know much about the Thrasher but a good bro of mine who has owned every metal amp under the sun and then some....had it....and said it stunk.
So I didnt even bother looking after that. I Trust his ears for sure.

I have got to do a lot with the FB100 and it is a bad ass amp... I have owned 2 pb's a Blackmore, and savage and I prefer the FB100 to them all..
unfortunately I have zero experience with the thrasher but haven't really heard anything positive about the amp.... that being said I would just go with the FB100

I'd say that the best amp is the one that'll put that "it" smile on your face. Of course there are a lot of smiles.

Also for the thrasher being made in china vs the herbert or fireball, well the final quality and test of time for each product tends to be irrelevant from the actual place in which it is assembled. Take it as you may but, few electronic devices if any manage to...not have something that isn't produced in china one way or another. So even if the chassis or pcb is germany, some stuff will be sourced from overseas, usually. Even fucking mercedes-benz outsources that big star on the mask!

But then there is the design, manufacturing process and scale economy. Randall is bigger than diezel however you put it. And from engl. Engl is the "laughing joke" of most semi pro or semi amateurs amp builders (if you take a look inside there are indeed some weird shit in there) yet, players that actually gig and move the amps have little to refer to (they don't seem to break down easily). I'd expect randall to be able to offer a good quality amp for a lot less than diezel. And fuck, the herbert can't be named handmade. It's not. Doing some solder work isn't handmade. If that matters (it doesn't in my case. The herbert is a piece of art for what it is.).
