Plus, it is pretty poor form advertising for his amps like (this is an example, don't know the names of his amps except firebolt and venom) "the venom, fortin based, or firebolt, Cameron jose based amp." I guess it feels like all of a sudden there's a real push by some to try to change peoples opinions of him by changing reality..the reality that he still rips and rants. I'm not FB myself, but I've been told that he still does this by people I trust. Maybe its not a big deal to you and others, but I guess I feel the facts need to be out there. That's all. Someone send me their Blades amp. I'll map the circuit, create a wiring layout, and post it for everybody to have. That way you can just build your own instead of giving Billy $2600. Billy won't mind, he's cool with this kind of thing

My point is this:

If you have a moral problem with me posting up Billy's schematic for all the world to see... for free... yet you are ok with giving Billy $2600 for an amp he built by reverse engineering someone else's amp, then you got some problems. Remember that guy who sold amps under his own name... but it turned out they were just SLO Clone kits? Everybody had a field day with that. But here Billy Blades is, basically doing the same thing. Only difference is he did the leg work to reverse engineer the stuff.

I don't personally have a problem with reverse engineering someone else's product when it comes to guitar amps. These things aren't proprietary to begin with. But there is certainly a lack of integrity on someone's part for publicly bashing other builders for selling amps based on someone else's design, then turning around and doing the exact same thing yourself. That's what Billy has done. He was pissed at Builder X, Builder Y, and Builder Z for selling mods based on Builder W's work. And he said they were too expensive, to boot! So what does he do? He turns around and sells amps based on all of their designs in retaliation? And at insane prices. Seems strange to me. But Billy seems ok with it.

So... if Billy is ok with it... and you're ok with giving Billy money for it... then you should be ok with me mapping out Billy's amps and posting them FOR FREE for the internet to see. Right? Makes sense to me That way y'all can save yourself a few thousand dollars.

But... if you DO have a problem with me doing that... then you should also have a problem giving Billy $2600 for one of "his" amps.

Yeah. Absolutely. I have zero qualms with taking a fucking Marshall JCM800 that someone slapped a few new resistors and caps in and calls their own new revolutionary design (which it isn't), and making that voicing change public knowledge. That's why I like Ceriatone. They aren't hiding the fact that these amps/circuits/designs are taken from pre-existing designs. They are still selling them. But they make the actual circuit/schematic public so people can DIY it themselves. They don't pretend it's some proprietary secret mojo magic that was divined to them in church one night by the ghost of EVH. In a DIY sense, it's totally legit. Go over to the SLO Clone Forum. That's what that place is all about. Nobody there is building them and selling them as their own, though. That's what's shady.

So... if you're ok with giving Billy Blades money to rip off someone else's work, but you're not ok with me posting Billy's schematic (for free)... then you got some messed up cognitive dissidence going on.

Hell every amp damn near sounds the same.
I have had SEVERAL big Name amps that can dial in Marshall sounds. So I am sure there is a little "marshall/mesa" circuit in every amp.
