Considering picking up one of these ... eventually. Please regale me with your thoughts, impressions, and expertise with this groovy little blue box of delay magic.

I liked it a lot. Sounded fine in front of a JCM800 and Recto. Shouldn't have sold it, and am always considering buying another one again. The mod delay and slapback sounded great. Never used much of the other settings, but they seemed fine.

I use a boss dd 20 right now. It sounds good and has a lot of options, but it sucks a little too much tone /sparkle when in the loop, that's why I ask

I've used the small one for a year or better and then moved to the x4. Been using it since it came out and I really love the pedal. I don't notice anymore suck over other delays I've used (memory man, carbon, etc.) I use it with my Quickrod and think it sounds great. Highly recommend

I had both. The small single and the x4. The x4 is great! You can have a total of 7 tone prints. 4 on the dial and 3 as presets. No tone suck. You can use both as true bypass or buffered bypass with opening it up and flicking the tiny switch. The amount of delays are endless and sound good.

FYI the x4 needs to be powered by its own wall wart or requires at least 250mA.

I have 3 Flashbacks. I have them in the loops of 3 of my amps. They can't be beat from a price/quality of tone standpoint.

How many tone prints does the normal pedal have? I think the mini might leave me wanting more, but the x4 may me overkill

Had the Flashback twice, now I have its more vintage oriented bro, the Alter Ego v2.
I like the footswitch of the AE2 better; it feels like the momentary type; very light to actuate.
Playing at home on socks/slippers, the Flashback's switch could be a bit nasty.
Depending on your needs, both are fine sounding pedals.
Both the TC's don't really do self-oscillation (space/warble) well, so if you want to do a live rendition of Priest's Starbreaker (Unleashed in the East -version), you'll need an analog delay (or a digital pedal that does oscillation well; for instance Line 6 Echo Park, Ibanez DE7, Boss RE-20 Space Echo; I own all three btw).

(and one of the reasons I keep an RE-20 next to an MXR Carbon Copy on my live pedal board; analog-sounding goodness with tap tempo to boot! And the RE-20 works so, that if you hold the tap-tempo, it will start spinning in that self-oscillation mode. (I believe your DD-20 has something similar too).

The dd 20 does have the warp delay, and it's honestly something I never use lol

X4 user here too - also have DE7, DD3 and 7 and a timefactor. X4 is a great delay. Simple to use, 3 presets, sounds great. Perfect on one of my pedalboards. Toneprints are cool to audition and tweak.

I have two Flashbacks, a Corona Chorus, and H.O.F. reverb. Great pedals and VERY transparent....nice switchable buffers inside as well.

ONLY gripe with the Flashback is NO TAP TEMPO. Has a "silent strum tempo" only which is challenging.

I have the Flashback X4 and I love it. I also have an MXR Carbon Copy on my board. They both sound great through the loop of my Friedman Smallbox.

Iv'e had the Flashback and the bigger X4 one. They're fine delays. But if you can get a Digitech Hardwire for cheaper then get the Hardwire. I like them just as much as the Flashback....maybe more. Got mine for 50 bucks, you can't beat that.

That's not a feature I use, so lack of tap tempo is no big deal. I like what I'm hearing about the transparency
