Over the past few months, I’ve put together a handful of flashlight comparison videos and figured it’s about time I organized them all into one thread. That way, anyone looking to compare beam patterns, throw, spill, or just general performance can find everything in one spot. Super easy to reference whenever you're upgrading or just curious.
Update 5/17/2025: Just got my hands on a Surefire X300 Turbo & Streamlight TLR-1 HL!
I went camping this past weekend and took all these lights out. We camp way out in the middle of nowhere and it was DARK this time with zero moonlight or stars and clouds covering us the entire time. We were in the middle of a valley surrounded by mountains and hills ranging anywhere from 70 yards to 1000+ yards from the designated range.
My observation from 100 yards and in is that any of the lights other than the XC-1 & TLR-6 will most likely be sufficient if it's dark out. Beyond 100 is where the differences became extremely noticeable. The X300U, TLR-1 HL, TLR-7 X Sub & GTLII would all be fine out to 150-200 yards in this environment. 200-300 yards is where the X300 Turbo really "Shines" the focus of that beam really allow you to focus in on areas extremely far away. Hell, we put an IPSC 2/3 steel at 440 yards and the Turbo was the only one that would allow you to see it. No video footage because it was pouring down rain the entire weekend unfortunately.
What weapon-mounted light(s) are you running?
Drop a photo, give us your thoughts, what you like/don’t like, or how it’s been holding up. Always curious to see what others are using and why.
Let’s geek out over lumens and candela!
