My new MIM Charvel has a 32mm block in it. Was thinking to upgrade it with a Brass Block from FU or Floyd Rose Upgrades.

I was looking at the L-Block. What’s your experiences with Brass, Stone or Copper? Can’t afford Titanium or Tungsten just yet.

So far, the guitar isn’t super bright, and was wondering maybe if it’s the JB in the bridge. I’m
Just looking for a general upgrade in sustain and maybe brightness.

Cheers!

Brass. Works great.

Cool, thanks! ...I looked at my Charvel came with a 32mm block. Do I have to stick with that size, or could I go up to 37mm without any routing or dive issues?

I'm going to trem-stop my floyd as is.

Thanks!

I've been playing a long time but only got into floyd guitars in the last few years. My first one has a schaller floyd with the standard block, but its a warmoth build not a "pro" build. I have always thought about upgrading the block because, while it sounds good, the idea that "upgrades" are out there makes me think it could sound better. But now I have two Friedmans with floyds which also have the standard block and they sound, sustain and play so well out of the box that it makes me think the upgrades aren't real, they just hide issues created by bad or less than perfect set ups. As I have little experience with floyds and no direct experience with these supposed "upgrades" whats the community think? With a proper build and set up, are the upgrades even worth it?

I just received a Custom shop strat that someone had put a brass block on the Floyd and included the stock block. I put the stock block back on and quite frankly it sounds better to me and more balanced. All of my other 5 guitars with Floyds are all stock blocks as well.

I have a brass block that I put in an older Kramer Focus. The original Floyd block was actually pretty thick, but there was a change in tone. It's a bit more resonant and brighter. I did have issues though with the thickness affecting pulling up on the bar. With the original, I could pull up 3 semi tones on the G string, with the brass block, 1 semi tone on the G, which is pretty much not useful, other than for vibrato.

I’ve tried them all. The stock brass block sounds best to me.

The BBB was the bomb in my FR-II.

BigBrassBlock by FU-Tone, heavy, resonant and man it was noticeable in tone. In a good way.

Ive always gone with Killer Guitar Components for brass. He's made me some custom blocks i couldnt find elsewhere. Nice fellow.

I "upgraded" to a big brass block in my kiesel CS6 and it ruined the tone. I took it out. You can have it if you want to pay for postage.
