Ok... so I'm getting ready to have the Gotoh 510 trem removed from my Charvel Journeyman and have a Floyd installed. Which Floyd do I want? OFR. Schaller, Gotoh...? I've used the Gotoh in the past, but between the Shaller and OFR which is better? Thanks!

I've used Floyds since about 1988 and I don't really have a preference between those 3. The OFR seems more 'legit' I guess, but in terms of feel and performance, I don't feel there's much between them. Visually, the Schaller is more compact and somehow the Gotoh looks more like one of those lower end bridges from 20 years ago..

The Gotohs on my EBMM EVHs are excellent and not low quality at all. Only issue is the saddles eventually get pitted because I play those guitars so much.

Original German made Floyd Rose, they have the hardest metal and in my opinion, the best… I replaced my music man EVH gotoh trem ( which is a good tremolo) with an original Floyd Rose and I hear and feel the difference hands-down…

This is the best 'bang for the buck', original German made Floyd Rose right now… It has a larger brass block and brass tuners,

I just replaced both my German Floyds with gotohs... Actually prefer the gotoh Floyds quite a bit. I'm pretty sure you'll have to make the routes bigger.

Yeah, the actual OFR isn´t really what it was even ten or fifteen years ago. With that said, I´d still take the OFR over the typical old-style Schaller, but the new Schaller Lockmeister - which confusingly seems to be their version of the OFR which they of course also manufacture - looks interesting.

Interesting… What do you find you like about the Gotohs?
Are you selling your originals?

I've never liked the screw-in trem arm on the Gotoh - always felt the collar screw on the OFR is a better design. But apparently the Gotoh's are more consistent in terms of quality.

The older 'made in Germany' Floyds seem to sound the best, the Gotohs are not bad I have them in a couple of guitars as well

I have the Gotoh Floyd on my Lifeson and it is an outstanding piece.

Honestly I felt the gotohs were more stable for my hand, felt better underneath and I like the action on it. I mean very nit picky but fits my playing style perfectly I fell in love with them on my suhrs and when I got rid of them missed them.

Not selling the Floyds I have a serious problem hording things hahahahaha.

Gotoh or OFR should all be drop in pieces. I dropped a Ping(Peavey laser etched with d-tuner attached Wolfgang trem) I bought from PV right in. Bam. Remeber they all are made to the same specs. Even though we know some are different.

The Schaller Floyd Rose is where it's at IMO. The Gotoh is good too but the Schaller is super smooth.
