SO...after owning an American Charvel So Cal and stupidly getting rid of it, I now have a Japanese Version and am really digging it. I completely agree with all of the people who say that they are the best bang for the buck.

While this guitar is very cool, it needs a set-up and a few other odds and ends that I like in all of my guitars. In shopping online for parts, I've come across Floyd Upgrades and am intrigued by some of the things that they offer. So I have two questions (1) how do you feel about the stock Floyd that comes with the Japanese Charvels and (2) What are the essential upgrades? As of right now, I'm leaning towards one of the brass big blocks and a brass spring claw.

Thanks!

I actually thought that it was a real FR on the MIJ-models.

From what I can tell, it is a real Floyd (not the heavy duty german ones). This site simply offers crazy upgrades but I'm just not sure which specific upgrades outside of the big brass blocks are worth it.

The Floyd on the MIJ version is good enough for me. I did have the Big Brass Block installed!!!

Sounds good to me! I'm cool with saving a bunch of $$. Thanks guys!

If it's not made in germany then its not a real floyd.

I've put brass blocks on all my floyds and replaced string blocks with titanium, and screws with Stainless as needed.

I like the stainless screws. The allen key engages them much better then the stock screws.

The block on the charvel flyods are pretty beefy stock 37's I believe..
